Former UFC champ Tanner dead at 37

“I’m not just going out into the desert, I’m going out into the desert to hunt for lost treasure,” he wrote. “I’m going on a pilgrimage of sorts, a journey to solitude, to do some thinking, and to pay my respects to the great mysteries.”

Sounds like he was a pretty deep spiritual being. RIP

I was just in the process of authoring this thread. Very tragic.

While he was obviously on the downslope of his career, this is a life lost much too early.

RIP

Sad to hear. Such a terrible way to die. He was a great fighter and I always enjoyed watching him.

It's no surprise he went down with a fight for his life. Anyone who watched his fights knows Tanner had the heart of 5 men.

Evan Tanner was a lion, he was one of my favorites early on and he had some epic battles.

He also had a long battle with alcoholism that almost ended his career. Not to spread rumors but I have heard som speculate that this may have been a planned suicide, although noone has come forward and confirmed that.

No matter what he was a great champion and a good man, he will be missed.

R.I.P.
