"On September 5, 2008, the Constitution Party of Montana removed Chuck Baldwin from their presidential ticket, replacing him with Ron Paul for president and Michael Peroutka for vice president.[150] Paul made an announcement stating that he "was aware that the party planned to do this, and has said that as long as he can remain passive and silent about the development, and as long as he need not sign any declaration of candidacy, that he does not object."[150]

The same day, Paul made a brief press statement: "On the heels of his historic three-day rally in Minneapolis that drew over 12,000 attendees, Congressman Ron Paul will make a major announcement next week in Washington at the National Press Club."[151] The congressman has apparently invited Chuck Baldwin, Bob Barr, Cynthia McKinney, and Ralph Nader to the press conference, leading some to believe that they will endorse Paul running for president on the ticket of either the Constitution, Libertarian or other third party.[151][152]

On September 8, 2008, Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty issued a press release about the upcoming announcement, stating that it will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:00 am. The release stated that Paul will, "announce his intentions for the fall presidential election".[153"

This election is absolutely gut-wrenching. I want to vote for RP so badly. I want to so badly I can taste it. But theodds of him winning are so long that I can't even see where they end.

Pr ess Conference Wednesday

Well, isn't this exciting?

Congressman Ron Paul will hold a press conference in the Ball Room at the National Press Club on Wednesday, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Paul will announce his intentions for the fall presidential election and will be accompanied by several special guests.

Seems he's on the ballot in Montana.

This might really shake things up in the next couple of months. The question is how will it be reported in the media (if at all)?

I hope this works!

I had discovered in my travels that many people expecting to 'write in' Ron Paul were going to be sorely disappointed when they go to the ballots and find they can't 'write-in' anything.

Now at least he will appear on the Independent Party line. I know it's hope against hope, but I would really want him to win over our other 'choices'.

When asked if he could win the Democratic nomination, Dennis Kucinich would reply: "If you vote for me." That is what people need to do is vote for their candidates. He can win, but you have to vote for him. Voting is a right that should be exercised by everyone with whom they want to vote, not just voting for "the lesser of two evils". The other parties are there for us to support. If they do get a sizable vote, then the "major" two parties may listen. After Mr Perot ran in 1992, both parties made balancing the budget (part of the Perot campaign) as a priority. The country had a surplus under a Democrat! Make some noise out there and change the status quo. It has happened before, and can happen again.

I think, in terms of the oft-quoted 'Revolution' it would be a win-win.

The American people across the Nation will reveal to eachother the actual mindset of the nation - NOT it's leaders, as is too often the case in corrupted political systems. Whether Paul loses or wins, people are going to see that they are more numerous than they had been led to believe by the media. As things are now - WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE - next time around there will be a lot more good faith out there replacing the partisan pablum. Things MUST change. Our children and theirs, are all at stake. I don't know about you but I don't trust the corporate think tanks and moneylenders to chart out their socio-economic future.

The only way this is going to have a massive effect is if he indeed gets together with the other independents and libertarians and they join forces and also accept him as the candidate. I doubt Ralph Nader will support Ron Paul though.

Ralph Nader may support Dr Paul as he is alsoagainst the corporate run politicians. I wouldn't be surprised to see the socialist Mr Nader endorse Dr Paul.

Well, if he does, good for him.

For now, we need the independents to temporarily pose as a unity in order to get the idea of a third-power into the minds of people.

Who cares if the odds of him winning are slim to none? Isn't it about who you want to run this country?

Why WOULDN'T you vote for him if that's who you "so badly" want to vote for?

This makes no sense to me. Why in the heck would you not vote for the candidate you really wanted to win. Why would you vote for a candidate you didn't want to win but thought had a better chance of doing so?

P.S. I am very excited about this. I don't know why he didn't do this before. Even if Ron Paul is what a republican SHOULD be that is not what republicans are anymore and he should have never identified himself with them. (Same goes for Democrats not being what they are supposed to be anymore)
