If not the Large Hadron Collider , what about the galactic plane or what is also called the Dark Rift at years end of 2012 ?

I would be quite pleased if the world ended... soon, like sometime this week. No more work.

Not an end of the world, but an end of what we see of as reality. The world will still be here, it`s just that some peoples realities will not be.

This is easy question people see the world changing its not as clear cut anymore. With changes come fear with fear comes desperation when they cant change it.

Perhaps the end of our holographic Universe (brane) is finally coming to an end. And in its wake a new reality, a new dimension is dawning.

Will the Hadron Collider unleash new horizons and frontiers on humanity! - most probably. The film; Contact really doesn't seem so far fetched after all.

In answer to the OP, the world won't end on Wednesday, the LHC won't be powered up fully for at least another 12 months. However, the 10th Sept 2008 does mark a historic turning point for mankind.
