Russia to Send Naval Ships, Planes to Venezuela for Joint Exercise

www.foxnews.com

MOSCOW — Russia said Monday it will send a naval squadron and anti-submarine patrol planes to Venezuela this year for a joint military exercise in the Caribbean, a deployment that comes amid increasingly tense relations with the United States.

The socialist leader ridiculed any U.S. concerns over the joint exercise with the Russian forces, saying, "Go ahead and squeal, Yankees."

Looks like more flexing of power. Wonder what the next US flex will be. I don't think it will ever go beyond testing each others patience...... wel I hope anyway.

Wow!

This is pretty crazy.

I don't know about you, but I do not like the thought of Russian craft in my backyard.

I heard about this from my barber this morning. I love that barber.

During the Cuban missile crisis they were the only Communist government to worry about in the West. Now there's Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela. And they all hate us. Good thing our military is hunting for cave ghosts on the other side of the world.

Oh joy. The news has been so spectacular lately, and this little gem makes it all the better.

"Go ahead and squeal, Yankees," made me laugh though. Yep. We'll be squealing, all right.

Russian bombers land in Venezuela as Kremlin flexes muscle

Two Russian strategic bombers have landed in Venezuela for military manouevres, as the Kremlin flexes its muscle amid a tense standoff with the United States over the war in Georgia.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said the two Tupolev Tu-160 bombers had arrived in the country last night and that he hoped “to fly one of those things”. The deployment was part of a move towards a “multi-polar world”, he said in a televised address, adding: “The Yankee hegemony is finished.”

Military analysts said it was the first time Russian strategic bombers have landed in the Western Hemisphere since the Cold War. The provocative foray into what has traditionally been America’s backyard comes just days after Russia and Venezuela announced plans for a joint military exercise involving a nuclear cruiser in the Caribbean, and is certain to ratchet up tensions between Moscow and Washington.

I was surprised that it's been that long since Russian military has come over. Nothing end of the world here, but I figured I'd post any updates I find on the matter.

Maybe we need a little joint exercise in the Baltic with the Ukrainians.

They started doing all this since the US began planning to put missile defense systems in Russia's back yard.

It looks like they are just playing the 'an eye for an eye' game. Hopefully it won't go too far, it probably will though. We'll just have to wait and see what the US do about it.
