Of course a study out of China would push this propaganda. There is no way they can provide truly organic food with all of the pollution created there and surely no way to feed the billion people with just whole foods.

I do not buy this either.

First off they go from 'organic' which mainly deals with the GROWTH of foods to discussing "additives" which is part of the 'value added industry' meaning what they do to that food after it leaves the farm.

I would have to see the study and it's peer review before I give it any credence.

IMO it is best to eat whole natural foods when possible. I too cannot tolerate many "fast foods" or frozen dinners anymore. I feel SO much better eating smaller amount of better food.

It makes sense that the closer to nature food is....the better. Man has always messed with nature and look at the result. Of course we won't be going back to Caveman days but when people grew their own garden and slaughtered their own chickens and pigs etc. they were much healthier.

We may have a longer life span than our predecessors but somehow it seems the quality of life especially in the latter years has diminished. We have a sharp rise in Alzheimer's Disease (exacerbated by using any products with aluminum in it, i.e. Anti-perspirants, Tums, etc.) Some cancers and of course the sharp rise in diabetes can all be associated with life-style and nutrition.

I for one try to purchase organic foods directly from farmer's markets and limit the amount of processed or packaged foods we eat.

Here is a list of the "Dirty Dozen" must buy organics:

Although I don't drink milk myself, my fiance does so we buy Organic milk from Costco. Do the research on how regular milk is processed and you will never drink anything but organic again.

It can be overwhelming at first when you realize the quality of the foods out there, but once you begin to read the labels and choose wisely you will never go back.

Stay away from anything that has High fructose corn syrup in it, which is really hard to do since almost EVERYTHING has it in it. But it can be done.

I am not surprised with this "study" by the Chinese. Remember they are the ones that provided us with the grains that were added to our pet foods that killed many precious dogs and cats not that many months ago. Their standards of manufacture are much lower than ours and they don't have the FDA like we do. Oh yes, going organic will definitely hurt their export business and they know it.

All I can say is, it is up to each of us to take control of our own health and well-being by watching what we eat, living a healthy life-style: exercise, fresh air and reducing stress will add years to our lives and life to our years!

Next thing you know China will be charging extra for all those *healthy* chemicals that leached into their produce from the air, soil, and water.

Give me a break!!

I'm gonna eat some lead paint health chips now.

theres many cures:
Colloidal Silver
B17 vitamins (eat raw apricot & apple seeds, etc)
Tiaga Tea
Vitamins & Minerals derived from living PLANTS
Liquid (from plants) Calcium
YOu will live without cancer... SIMPLE AS THAT

The US and Germany have among the highest life expectancy??? are you kidding? The US is ranked 45th and Germany is 33rd!! how is that among the highest?? not even close!
As to western medicine, yes, it is called "allopathic" medicine which literally means treating a disease with another disease. But any naturopaths will tell you that the best way to fight disease is NOT by poisoning your body, but by being HEALTHY. Of course, most americans dont know what healthy is because due to our society and such, we think disease is the norm.

"The study alleges that the there is very substantial evidence that the very same chemicals and artificial substances that make produce less attractive to insects and pests protects the human body by making it less fertile for the growth of cancers and viruses."

Possibly the silliest thing I've ever read. It's beyond ridiculous.

This is ridiculous. I would say anyone who will categorically state that pesticde and preservative laden food is generally healthier than food without such additives, isn't only not denying ignorance but could become it's poster child.

biggest load of crap i've heard in a long while..
the writer of the article did not even give one refference so i hope people give the article the attention it deserves,,,

none at all

in a time when even organic food is drastically lacking minerals because the soil has been intense farmed for years and all minerals have been leached from the soil..

if you want to understand part of the cancer problem you can visit a thread i started earlier today about radiation fallout in the states.. i think after reading that you will not be so worried about the organic food problem any more..

US radiation dump sites..

The source website looks like bunk to me, first of all.

Second, commons sense tells us that this story has to be false. 'Organic' food, is food grown without pesticides and without chemical fertilizers. It is the food that our Grand Parents and Great Grandparents ate, and their generations and older, rarely died of Cancer. Interestingly, the Cancer rates have grown at nearly the same rates that society has increased the use of Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides (which themselves are often know Carcinogens). Don't be naive, or bigoted towards Organic foods, it leads you down a path of ignorance.

Politically, 'Organic' foods tend to be much more locally sourced than their mainstream chemically grown counterparts, which has a secondary effect preventing Chinese export of food products. That is, unless the Chinese want USDA investigators 'living' in their food processing plants. In order for the Chinese to sell 'Organic' foods in the United States, they would have to pass USDA certification, or implement their own program modeled after the USDA one, but possibly exceeding it. Even then, the USDA would need to 'certify' their certification.

Most of all, I think this 'article' is designed to pacify a future populace of their education about nutrition. I think that without the use of Petro-Chemically engineered foods, that the Population of China would grow very hungry. I think that this article, and its placement here at ATS are here to obfuscate the truth, and give credence to propaganda. If the people of China understood the truth about the foods that they are given, they would revolt for those reasons alone.

Deny Ignorance

Good post, nothing I hadn't already suspected.

You wouldn't happen to have any links to scientific documents, on this subject??

Funny the last time I checked didn't pesticides and growth hormones cause cancer?

Modern medicine has always followed he principal 'kill the disease without killing the patient'
In fact late 19th century medicine was often no less effective than today's it just half klled the patient in the process.

Dude. The reason 19th century medicine was killing people is because of trauma (no pain-killers) and infection (no awareness of the need for cleanliness). The fact is that cancer was a very rare condition back then. Today 1 in 3 women are expected to get it and 1 in 2 men.

If they had pain killers and cleanliness, the death rate would have been very slim.

My sneaking suspicion.........the findings are true.

This is utter creppola. The PTB can make claims coming out of China till the cows come home and we wouldn't know the truth or the lie.

This is gross disinformation. There is no connection between chemoicals killing bugs and cancer suppression. In fact, the toxins that kill bugs PROMOTE cancer.

Man, it's getting rife with disinfo here, what with people saying fluoride compounds (toxic waste from fertilizer production) is A-OK, to suggestions that fast food is A-OK, to this! Look around at what all this has done to us! Cancer is EPIDEMIC!

If you buy this piece of garbage, have fun with the results in your life.

There is a whole industry built around presenting only negative findings to suit peoples ams-did you know the US and Germany have two of the highest life expectancties AND highest obesity levels......often its the lesser of two evils-give and take-funny that Americans are healthier than All organic khalahari bushmen

Healthier HOW? What are you using to compare here? Are you taking into consideration overall life expectancy? Or are you removing those who get stung by poisonous insects, killed by a large critter, infected and succumbing to it? (These are not a reflection of health but of other factors.)

You have to look at the data you are comparing.

Forget the babying stuff. Personally I'm on the Nietzschean diet.

It builds character and pain tolerance.

Everybody seems to be misunderstanding what they are saying. They aren't really saying that organic foods are bad for you, but that non-organic foods make you so unhealthy, that cancers and viruses aren't able to tolerate the wasteland that is your body. They seem to be suggesting that everybody should pre-emptively undergo lifelong chemotherapy. Oh well. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

.....or to put it another way, the case for organics seems oh-so-logical and feel-good and nicety-nice...........but maybe, just maybe its a pack of lies, and processed food is better for us-how do you really know???

Try to eat an all organic raw food diet for a 2 weeks then eat an all processed diet for 2 weeks and see the difference.

Dont china make everything cheap by using cheap chemicals. Well those additives are cheap chemicals that cause the prices to go down but thats about it. Dont china also use human feaces in the foods they grow and are very unhygienic to begin with. Not too mention that they export this crap to the world without your knowledge, especially Australia.
Im on the raw food diet and when i eat all conventional raw i feel sick and get stomach pains but when i eat local and certified organic raw i feel like its going through my whole body and i feel healthier. I feel ti go to work and can feel the difference. Unfortuantely those who eat conventional processed foods wont feel as much difference between conventional and organic when your body is not clean with raw foods.

Please, somebody get me a barf bag.

If the food is grown truly organically, then the food should be fine. This is the way nature intended for food to be grown. It is a cycle. Things decay, it becomes food for plants.

I think the problem arises when you just shovel raw manure or something right on top of your plants. The manure hasn't had time to decompose fully, and that could be a problem with some "organic" products. Now this is my understanding of what I read last.

You can't tell me that these nasty tasteless waxed bags of apples, that have been artificially stimulated to grow, sprayed with who knows what, are some how going to be better for me than a naturally grown apple.

God, this is called "dumbing down" folks.
