MSNBC yanks Keith Olbermann

primebuzz.kcstar.com

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.

That experiment appears to be over.

It would appear that Olbermann's rhetoric and hyper-partisanship is no longer considered the type of representation that MSNBC desires for its election coverage. Perhaps David Gregory can present a more unbiased and politically neutral report of the upcoming debates and the general election. I wonder if this is the beginning of a paradigm shift in the way the network will present its face to the public as it has since traveled quite noticeably and unsubtley to the left.

LOL do we get to hear about the "liberal media" again despite the fact that the large tv & news corporations are owned by neo-con supporters(news corp)? I suspect Keith was just cutting through too much of the BS we're spoon fed by the always truthful (SARCASM ALERT!) republicans...It's okay America, keep drinking beer and watching football, don't mind the lies you're being told...good job!

As much as I like Keith Olbermann, I actually tend to agree he is not at his best as an anchor. He wears his heart on his sleeve, an anchor needs to try to remain neutral.

Personally I prefer him as a commentator, IMO he is the best political commentator on any of the 24-hr news networks.

No, they calculated he was costing them viewers which translates into money. Angry left anchors are not profitable is the message of the day here.

Besides Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, which media corporation do you feel is owned by 'neo-con supporters'?

Sorry to butt in, and they are not neo-con as far as I know, but GE does own NBC. GE has a little role in the defense industry. There has been some discomfort over the years about the corporate influence on the news content.

There is no way I would follow any one network for all my news. I usually research the news via internet as far as my curiousity compels me forward. People should rely less upon the news celebrities.

He isn't biased...

Wait for it, I'll make my argument. lol.

When you take someone who is neutral between two sides... and take away the voice of one side, the neutral observer appears to be off to the side.

Keith Olberman is just saying what every rational person is thinking... the problem is, the political norm has become incredibly irrational.
Making him appear as though he stands alone in his thinking compared to the other hotheads in the media.

Suddenly it appears that anyone in the press who isn't kissing Bush's bottom and shining his boots is automatically considered a whack job.

Since when did rational disgust toward irrational leaders become unwarranted?

Rationality was not Olberman's strong suit and that's why he's not anchoring.

I don't know how his regular show stands, but at least there, people know what their getting into when they tune in, or at least they do after the first 15 seconds.

It sadly shows how far right dominated our media is when olbermann, a centrist, is considered the liberal left. Left are people like Chomsky, Zinn, others like them, and they are not even far left, they are just left of center. Olbermann doesnt even approach them in liberality or leftness, so take it with a grain of salt when you hear about the liberal media, as this is just a fiction in order to make the right seem center. When you hear of 9/11 myth in the news, when you hear anything good about Cuba, venezuela, russia, palestinians, when you hear the truth about georgia being the aggressor, when you hear ANYTHING critical of israel, THEN you know the media's being a little more centrist. When you are only getting one side of views know you are watching a central powerful media. Olbermann is the voice of CENTRISM, not the left. The left gets so little airtime and usually by the looniest person they can find, that most MSM watchers dont even have any idea what the left IS.

I think it's more indicative of the lack of knowledge of the history and legacy of the US and rational thinking that anyone could call Olberman a Centrist. If you are a european socialist, yes, he is a centrist. Compared to the founding principles of this country, the historic legacy of this country, and the principles of freedom, Olberman is VERY far left.

Wow, the "Demplosion" has begun.

I never watch MSNBC, except for last Wednesday night just to watch Matthews and Olbermann's reaction to Palin's speech.
It was well worth it.

He probably got canned because of "the worst ratings in the world".

Hearing what he had to say about Palin's youngest daughter, comparing her to Paul Wolfowitz, I can see what type of person he really is.

Why did they pull Olberman after Alex Jones said he respects him as a journalist for reporting on Cheney's false flag operation?
Do they suspect him as part of the anti NWO?

lol olberman, anti-nwo? with his Obama love-fest? Obama of the socialist leanings, which are a big part of what is necessary for any NWO? Please...Olberman is one of those people who's blind idealism is hurrying on the destruction of the US.

Do you actually read what you're saying or are you simply talking out your rear end?

Olberman is one of those people who's blind idealism is hurrying on the destruction of the US.

Let's get one thing straight.
It's your frat boy Bush who has screwed you, not Olberman.

Man talk about shooting the messenger. Olberman is not an idealist, he's simply disgusted by how bad of a job the Bush party is doing.

He reports on current decisions being made, and why he thinks they are good or bad decisions.

The reason people watch him, is because they agree with him.
If you can't DEAL with that... maybe it's not Olberman you should be putting down... maybe, just maybe, THE MAN LEADING YOUR COUNTRY IS THE ONE SCREWING IT UP.

Sounds more like Bush's boot shiners and backside kissers in those media outlets couldn't handle the idea of someone telling it as it is.

His message didn't have anything smacking of "All hail lovely dictator Bush" in it, so he got canned.
