Seafoods such as shrimp, lobster, crab and warm water fish contain lots of purines thought to be a contributor to gout. Cold water fish like salmon and trout are safe however. One plate of the above mentioned delicacy's and I have a severe gout attack. Gout has the same impact as arthritis in that it leaves deposits in your joints that are very painful.

Seafood is not the panacea people make it out to be. It is also unsafe for children considering most contains mercury and other heavy metals. Wild salmon from here however is safe unlike the farmed salmon most people buy.

I love seafood, but I can't eat much of it. Clams and such are like filters that gather up all the bad stuff in the ocean and pass it on to us. I really miss Butter Clams dipped in butter and garlic sauce
I also miss shrimp and King Crab

I'am on the raw food diet. Everything in my body came back to normal and i cured my cancer, even when i reduced meat. I have not gone completely off meat but i was only eating it once a week and even skipped 2 weeks of no meat eating and i have never in my life felt better. I was a meat eater all my life. It is custom in our tradition. We would eat meat breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner everyday. Through meeting with other people in my custom they were having bowel and colon cancer. When i saw what they eat they eat highly salted meat from beef to pork and lots of it. They would eat bbq every weekend.
This i always had a feeling it was connected to meat consumption. I have therefore researched it and the conclusion was true. Yet they dont admit it to people as the meat and dairy industry have made their way into the food chain and food groups taught is schools to be most beneficial.
I believe cutting down in meat has its benefits and eating raw is the way. I dont believe in cutting out meat completely though.
I'am much like everyone in here i thought yuck i dont like veggies. Well when i started eating raw veggies your taste buds become accustomed and your stomach feels queasy at the site of meat.
Basically i went from an ugly fat pimple faced person who noone would look at to being touted as young and beautiful. I get compliments everyday about my skin and how beautiful and young i look. I look even better when i dont eat much meat. My breasts have become large and filled out themselves. I actually look healthy and curvy. MY lips went from whitish to pink. MY skin has a natural glow. I basically had free plastic surgery from nature.
I think the UN uses reverse psychology personally.
The ideal diet that has been used in many clinics and that has been taught by Ann Wigmore is the raw food diet. Where meat can still personally be eaten if wanted cooked or raw.
There is so much hidden information about the raw food diet that mainstream media hardly covers and they are only covering it now that celebrities are on it. Demi Moore was on the diet for charlies angels and still is why she looks so young and good. Uma Therman, Alicia Silverstone, anthony kiedis, drew barrymore, alicia silverstone, sting, angela basset, bryan adams, robin williams, martina navratiliva, donna karan and many others are embracing the raw way of life.
You can see before and after pictures on these websites

This one about meat

When i ate organic and conventional meat organic meat used to be the way people ate centuries ago and to tell you the truth it tastes gross. The conventional meat is so full of additives and hormones to make it taste yum(it is fake meat compared to organic and not its true taste which is why i think the hormones in it make people carnal, an not surprising why it is addictive). So im trying my best to go to an all raw vegetarian lifestyle personally.

replacements for sugar:
Agave syrup, stevia, xylitol, raw honey

Protein: rice, bee pollen, greens, amaranth, quinoa, wheatgrass, bananas, spirulina, mixtures of fruit and veggies raw. Many others i may have missed upon.

Green smoothies is my best bet for good source of protein by Victoria Boutenko. Recipes can be googled and youtubed is a great way to start raw food lifestyle.

Want to end depression? Dotn listen to the lies of you can onyl eat 3 pieces of fruit a day. I feel my most happiest when i eat lots of fruit in the morning. I personally eat more then 3 pieces i eat about 7-10 pieces other raw foodists eat up to 20 fruits a day fruitarains even more. This gives you lots of energy for the day and you feel alive and can do sports better. So 3pieces is a myth. JUSt as long as you eat all that fruit on a raw diet rather then mixing it with things that make you put on weight like processed and others fats.

Try it for atleast a month or 2 still eating meat if you wish and you will notice dramatic improvements. Remember you dont know till you personally experience it yourself. I used to talk like everyone here when i ate meat by the truckload but you trully change on this diet. If you try it and its not for you simply go back to your original lifestyle. The reason i say to do it for a month or more is because you will be in detox mode before you feel good. Most people feel good straightaway. This diet is so hard to explain and i wish it was covered but media wont let it be known because of the cure rates.

The PETA folks were at an Obama rally I attended last fall, in pig suits, carrying signs telling people to stop global warming by not eating meat. Finally! Some answers! I couldn't imagine what eating meat had to do with global warming and the PETA folks/pigs weren't talking. I've been asking people about this for months! Thanks for posting this.

To most raw foodists peta is hype and an embarrasement to true followers of vegan and vegetarian and raw diets.
All they like doing is pointing fingers but never want to give solutions. They make the true people who eat this way look bad and thats propaganda i think.
Google the negative effects of meat eating and global impact and what they put in meat is enough to turn you off, but there needs to be solutions rather then finger pointing.

Could he do that without unnatural supplements or masses of carbs? How are they better than meat?

There's a diet that's low carb (under 35g a day) and high protein that allows body builders to gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously. You eat low carb for six days and you have one day where you replenish your glycogen by eating a reasonable amount of carbs.

I'm not saying that it's better than meat, in fact chicken is a great low carb source of protein, I'm was just demonstrating that being a vegan or vegetarian doesn't condemn you to frailty.

I've been a vegetarian for about a year now and I'm in the process of building muscle and cutting body fat. I switched for health and ethical reasons. You can be perfectly healthy eating meat, but like anything it's best in moderation. What I'm against is the factory farming that produces the meat for the McDonald's and Burger Kings of the world.

Have any of you watched the film Earthlings?

That's just what that crafty UN wants, they want us to eat less meat so we have less lipids for our brains!

Well nuts to you, UN. I'm gonna eat double meat 7 days a week now.

Clearly it's all part of the Reptoid/Grey/Illuminati/Bilderberger/UN/Exxon/P.Diddy scheme for world domination. I'm not falling for it and neither should you.

Uhm, to be honest I don't think that completely cutting meat from your diet once a week will make an honest impact on Global warming. We've been into agriculture and animal husbandry for like 12,000 years at least. Granted our methods have gotten dirtier, and there are more cattle these days, but regardless of what you eat the same number of cows are born, slaughterd, ground, and sent off to Mickey D's. We're just Cogs in the Machine.

Pass the Ketchup, thanks.

It will make an impact on the atrocity that is the factory farming machine. That much would be certain.

Granted our methods have gotten dirtier,

heh, to say the least

and there are more cattle these days,

Around 30 Million cows slaughtered every year in the US. That's just cows. Far more pigs, and even more chickens are slaughtered.

Which means there are a hell of a lot more alive, being raised at these factory farms. The livestock numbers are absolutely staggering.

So yeah... there is more

I have read studys that say factory farms produce more greenhouse gases then all of our (US) cars, trucks, ships and planes combined.

Yes I second that raw food diets are the best of the best.

Sometimes I am a healthy vegetarian and stick to a raw food diet, and other times I eat total crap (excluding meat).

Woahhhhh---I do not steal other people's images. That's a little extreme in verb usage, wouldn't you say! Anyway, the pictures are still at the sources underneath the pictures.

it's a personal choice.

What version of the Bible do you quote? In an NIV I have, 1Timothy goes only as far as 6:20 & 2Timothy doesn't go past 4:22.
And is it really a personal choice or an imposed choice simply by Tim's word? After all, the original Hebrews (from the Old Testament) ate meat & were pretty pious...Timothy didn't show up until the New Testament.

BTW, there is no single version of the Bible written by God's Own Hand...The various passages were written over long periods of time by the hands of men, just as fallible as any other. Governments are the work of men...Can you trust them as much as any other work of men?
BTW, I normally choose to eat meat 2-3 per week anyway...

You can't eat salad without also killing the plants! You can't eat salad without also killing the plants! Etc.
Besides, I've never lived or worked on any kind of farm, so I've never had the opportunity to befriend a cow, pig or chicken...

It's one of the Natural Laws as set forth by the Creator...Life continues only by consuming life. Even in Genesis, it states that He gave us dominion over all else that lives, but there also came the inherent responsibility to care for it as well...Which governments & polluting industries have already gone too far in ignoring that responsibility.

Since we cannot survive without abiding by the Laws of Nature, we cannot therefore afford to disrupt the Balance of Nature. Human beings were created as omnivores...Who are you (or the UN for that matter) to arbitrarily decide that we cannot eat meat anymore? You sound more like a Political Socialist Manipulator than a free-thinking human being. Maybe that's what Timothy was like in real life? After all, Timothy was only a mere human being too.

BTW, some better words of wisdom from a very religious person in US history:
"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear." -- Thomas Jefferson
Since God created us with the capacity to develop Reason, who are we to reject the very Human Nature that He gave us?

Good! From what I understand it should be thoroughly cooked (until it's browned, not "red"
) anyway. Uncooked meat is a good way to risk parasites & disease (unless you're very careful about the source of your meat).

My problem with vegetarians is that, generalizing, they seem to be militant in their views.

You've just spoken one of the primary clues to spot a Socialist mentality...That no one deserves the freedom of choice anymore & they are the only people who "know what's good for everyone else." Those same kinds of Socialists that lobby government so hard are only begging the government to force everyone to finance their socialist programs. The problem is that you'll find the Socialist mentality from both sides of any issue.

Geeez, just merely thinking about socialists' agenda for total control over the whole human race makes me want to
up that nice steak I had for supper...

To tell the truth, this "helpful advice" of giving up meat one day a week isn't even necessary. If people would monitor what they eat more carefully and learn how to proportion their meals into healthy diets you'd have a much greater reduction in the demand for meat.

A-hah! Finally, the light of truth here! An advocate of personal responsibility rather than allowing an arbitrary authority to force their own viewpoints! It's not really about the pollution by the meat industry, it's not really about the pros-n-cons of either carnivore vs. herbivore diets! When "judgments" like this are being proclaimed by organizations like the UN, then it comes down to the root of it all: CONTROL. Who really has control of your life? YOU DO! The Right to choose how you want to live your own life should not be keelhauled by EXTERNAL AUTHORITY!

Oh well, there's already a few people in this thread who've talked reasonably about their own personal responsibility in their own personal dietary habits...More power to you! You are the people who already know what's best for yourselves.

It's the others that have been pushing their own viewpoints are those to whom I direct the message of personal responsibility for.

Americans are fully responsible for global warming .....

they pollute the world with their inefficient monster size SUVs
they pollute the world by eatting to much meat

they pollute the world with hedonistic lifestyle
they pollute the world with their weapons

I wouldn't mind changing my lifestyle to 'make an impact' but I have one big gripe with this.

While us little people are concerned and change their ways, the major industrys, which are the main source of pollution, happily continue poisoning the globe on a massive scale.

Well.. here in Belgium, the Industry is pretty much regulated, if they produce too much pollution the goverment steps in and shuts them down, since we signed the Kyoto treaty.

But in countrys who did not sign because of industrialist lobbys all effects any personal changes would have get blown away in a matter of minutes.

first regulate the entire globe's industry, and thén I'll be happy to follow suit.

But untill then, I'm keeping my car (paying enough taxes etc on it to put into a 'green fund' anyway)

And I sure as Hell ain't going to stop eating meat.. I'm no friggin' rabbit

Well, it is true that, since they did not sign the Kyoto treaty, and their industrys keep spewing out poisons, they do contribute.

But to hold the US solely responsible is also a bridge too far..

Countrys like India, China, and the USSR also have a great responsibility when it comes to global polution. (and others offcourse, these are just off the top of my head)

You are aware that Kyoto specifically excluded China and India from any restrictions whatsoever, right? That was the reasoning for not signing it. It's like making an agreement with someone to keep everyone's yards mowed, but specifically stating that they do not have to mow any yards. You get to do all the work, and they get a free ride.

The UN seems to think America should solve all the problems of the world,

Actually the UN is going to cut back on everyones meat diet. In a couple of years the UN/WTO will have complete control of the US food supply.(25 to 30% of the world) US farmers have been fighting it for several years, but since the US sheeple are too stupid to pay attention it will be implemented. Family farms and backyard gardens will be no more. And the UN agenda will be implemented. I and the rest of the US small farmers figure 3 to 5 years before the Sheeple see the food supply dry up, and prices go sky high. Think OIL was bad? Wait till the same Elite control your food supply.

The Global Diversity Treaty Collect seeds the world over so Corporations can patent the DNA and sell the seeds to farmers.

Global Poverty Tax US tax payers funds Corporate takeover of third world farms.'

In the EU, there is now a list of 'official' vegetable varieties. Seed that is not on the list cannot be 'sold' to the 'public' . To keep something on the list costs thousands of pounds each year

Planned eradication

History of UK 2001 foot & mouth disease

Catherine Bertini, former US Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, and now Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program explained “FOOD IS POWER,” she said. “We use it to change behavior. Some may call that bribery. We do not apologize.”

That says it all.

Well, the US of A wants to lead the world ? Then lead by example!

America now has no moral ground whatsoever to tell people what to do in this regard, and if rich America does not set the example, you expect developing countrys to set the standard ?

It's like the US has a lawnmower capable of mowing several acres a day and then opting not to mow their lawn 'cause those neighbours also don't', all the while ignoring those other guys maybe have a pair of scissors to do the job..
