it's a personal choice.
What
version of the Bible do you quote? In an NIV I have, 1Timothy goes only as far as 6:20 & 2Timothy doesn't go past 4:22.
And is it really a
personal choice or an
imposed choice simply by Tim's word? After all, the original Hebrews (from the Old Testament)
ate meat & were pretty pious...Timothy didn't show up until the New Testament.
BTW, there is no single version of the Bible written by God's Own Hand...The various passages were written over long periods of time by the hands of
men, just as fallible as any other. Governments are the work of men...Can you trust them as much as any other work of men?
BTW, I normally
choose to eat meat 2-3 per week anyway...

You can't eat salad without also killing the plants! You can't eat salad without also killing the plants! Etc.
Besides, I've never lived or worked on any kind of farm, so I've never had the opportunity to befriend a cow, pig or chicken...
It's one of the Natural Laws as set forth by the Creator...Life continues only by consuming life. Even in Genesis, it states that He gave us dominion
over all else that lives, but there also came the inherent responsibility to care for it as well...Which governments & polluting industries have
already gone too far in ignoring that responsibility.
Since we cannot survive without abiding by the Laws of Nature, we cannot therefore afford to disrupt the Balance of Nature. Human beings were created
as omnivores...Who are you (or the UN for that matter) to arbitrarily decide that we cannot eat meat anymore? You sound more like a Political
Socialist Manipulator than a free-thinking human being. Maybe that's what Timothy was like in real life? After all, Timothy was only a mere human
being too.
BTW, some better words of wisdom from a very religious person in US history:
"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if
there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear." -- Thomas Jefferson
Since God created us with the capacity to develop Reason, who are we to reject the very Human Nature that He gave us?

weird..im red meat free all day everyday!! haha
Good! From what I understand it should be thoroughly cooked (until it's browned, not "red"

) anyway. Uncooked meat is a good way to risk
parasites & disease (unless you're
very careful about the source of your meat).

My problem with vegetarians is that, generalizing, they seem to be militant in their views.
You've just spoken one of the primary clues to spot a Socialist mentality...That no one deserves the freedom of choice anymore & they are the only
people who "know what's good for everyone else." Those same kinds of Socialists that lobby government so hard are only begging the government to
force
everyone to finance their socialist programs. The problem is that you'll find the Socialist mentality from
both sides of
any issue.
Geeez, just merely
thinking about socialists' agenda for total control over the whole human race makes me want to

up that nice steak
I had for supper...

To tell the truth, this "helpful advice" of giving up meat one day a week isn't even necessary. If people would monitor what they eat more
carefully and learn how to proportion their meals into healthy diets you'd have a much greater reduction in the demand for meat.
A-hah! Finally, the light of truth here! An advocate of
personal responsibility rather than allowing an arbitrary authority to
force
their own viewpoints! It's not really about the pollution by the meat industry, it's not really about the pros-n-cons of either carnivore vs.
herbivore diets! When "judgments" like this are being proclaimed by organizations like the UN, then it comes down to the root of it all: CONTROL.
Who really has control of
your life? YOU DO! The Right to choose how you want to live your own life should not be keelhauled by EXTERNAL
AUTHORITY!
Oh well, there's already a few people in this thread who've talked reasonably about their own personal responsibility in their own personal dietary
habits...More power to you! You are the people who already know what's best for yourselves.
It's the
others that have been pushing their own viewpoints are those to whom I direct the message of personal responsibility for.
