HAARP watchers, 9/11 watchers, survivalists and OWG watchers - could you weigh in? Much as I love Obama's speeches, I wonder if anyone really counts our votes. I think the plan is we get Obama to calm disgruntled Dem masses. But it's not for free. New crowd controls are displayed in advance.

I'd guess if any of this is possible, there are differing opinions within the elite players. And although I don't think the Reps have been trying with McCaine (oldest candidate, completely overshadowed by the Hillary / Obama battle, then series of press goofs [viagra, how many houses...]). I was impressed by the first "WOW" strategic move of choosing Palin, but then within hours the scandal brought their campaign slogan back to "Give us a break." Still, maybe some thought RNC wasn't a good time for a big hurricane. It was a good time for a high profile successful FEMA rehearsal. And the Palin Show debut.

But 9/11 - now that's a good day for a Cat 4. A day that the country already has on subconscious alert. And 9/11/01 is getting old. Even republicans are tired of Giuliani's speeches. Maybe #911 could use a little pick-me-up? What would really happen if we lost the Port of New Orleans and the lower Mississippi River complex? Well, not lost, how about shut down temporarily? Ike, like others before, is aimed at the biggest complex of ports.

It would be nice, if "THEY" exist and disagree amongst themselves, that "THEY" consider downgrading this one like the others. For old time's sake. Instead of refreshing 9/11 we could refresh "I like Ike."

"These storms have a mind of their own," Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said after a meeting Saturday with mayors and emergency officials. "There are no rules, so what we have to do is be prepared, be smart, vigilant and alert."

Current predictions, subject to large fluctuations over the coming days, call for Ike to be in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday morning and in the central gulf by Thursday.

The cone of error displays the wide area where Ike could land five days from now. Currently, the outer limits of the cone stretch from Lake Pontchartrain to Florida.

"Hurricane Ike, a Category 4 storm with peak winds of 135 m.p.h., was expected to approach Cuba today and later enter the Gulf of Mexico, where it would threaten the Gulf Coast.

It appears it will avoid the cooler ocean waters churned up by Hanna and retain its power, Newhard said. Ike, however, is not expected to reach the central Gulf until Thursday, and it is impossible to say where it will go from there."

I notice the press isn't ever saying Sept 11th and Ike, just Thursday and Ike, everywhere. But maybe that's me being silly.

Yes sept. 11th looks like target date for port and drilling issues.

Actually, the link shows it to be smack in the middle of the GOM on Thurs. the 11th, just getting into the oil platforms and way off from any ports.

It was a cool thought though.
