I'm not against teaching abstinence as part of a comprehensive sex education course, in fact I think it is important that it be included. That said,
I am anxious to see how the religious far right would react if this rumor were to be found true.
Me neither. I'm in no way saying we throw them all condoms and say "have at each other", but abstinence is not for everybody, including myself as a
teen. Unless her daughter was out to harm her mother, which I doubt, it shows very clearly that it's not as simple as raising your kids
conservatively. Abstinence, for those with strong enough willpower, is the most effective way to avoid pregnancy and STD's, but again, one has to be
able to deny their natural urges, and that can be EXTREMELY difficult, lol.
They sidestepped the pregnant teen daughter issue by focusing on her decision to keep the baby and marry the father.
The key word is "decision" to keep the baby. A decision that Palin's position is to remove from all mothers, regardless of circumstance.
If Palin is proven to have had an affair, it would be a much more difficult issue for the far right, though I have no doubt that they will find a way
to rationalize what they preach so strongly against.
Totally agree.
