www.news.com.au

THE mother of a victim of a savage bashing is outraged her son has been asked to "make friends" with his attackers.

Joseph Lauretta is gradually losing sight in one eye after he was stabbed and repeatedly bashed at a teenage birthday party gatecrashed by a gang.

He was one of eight people hospitalised after the attack at the teen party last year.

Three of the attackers have pleaded guilty to charges over the attack and are facing a Children's Court.

How stupid is this?

The gang members punch the kid up, injure him for life and the friggin useless magistrate wants the victim to meet them?

The next time that kid meets any of them, it should be when he's swinging a bat at their heads as he hunts them down one by one.

tezza...I totally agree with you

I understand how outraged this mother feels. As a mother myself, I would not allow this meeting to take place. How dare this magistrate expect these victims to confront these vicious thugs. The article does not sya if this meeting is to be forced on the victims. I would be defiant and NOT attend.

My youngest son was bashed with an iron bar on our driveway one night about 3 years ago when three car loads of guys arrived at our house. My son''s Nissan Exa had been vandalised and damaged over a period of months, and this particular night it was really hot and we could not sleep. As they pulled up with golf clubs and other weapons, my husband and I confronted them, asking why they were there, what they intended to do and so on. My son then came out and asked them to leave us alone. One of them struck him with the iron bar across his back, he fell to the ground and could not move his legs. They then jumped in their cars and started doing doughnuts on the road and yelling that they would be back.

My son was taken the hospital in an ambulance and was diagnosed with minor nerve trauma in his lower back. The guy who struck him had attacked him six months prior to that at a service station one night, one blow to the back of his head and the police and ambos attended.

We eventually got the cretin into court but he had a barrister and the Police Prosecutor acted for us. All charges were dropped. When we heard that I flew into a rage and told this idiot that I would kill him if he ever laid a hand on my son again. I was then told that I would be charged with contempt and threatening violence. I challlenged them to charge me and lock me up, they instead, escorted my husband, son and myself from the premises.

We moved away but I keep a baseball bat in the car and if I ever see him again, I will give him a little something to remember for the rest of his sorry life. Maybe his mother would like to walk in my shoes and see how it feels.

I happen to be of the opinion that if you hurt my child then I will have to seek revenge ( my 3 sons are in their 20s). Forget the courts, hand the thugs over the mothers so we can deal the justice properly.

Sorry for rambling but this kind of crime gets my blood on the boil.

I agree with you. I'm having a difficult time with this aswell. My daughter is 9years old and has be diagnosed asbergers. There was a 14ish yr killed riding his bike on my road. I say my road because its a dead end street, he wasn't visiting any of my elder neighbors, and had no business being there. Anyway, my daughter asked him a question. He got ignorant and said, "Get away from me, you slow riding retard". This is one of the cases I wanted so bad to knock him off his bike and give the 14yr old a spanking for being ignorant, but I realize doing that would probably send me to jail. My daughter doesn't understand why he got away with it, where as if she said that, I would have spanked her. I know I'm ranting, but I definately see your point of view. If someone hurts my kids, I wouldn't hesitate to hurt them back. Sometimes though, you need think about stuff. I you had hit one of those guys with a bat, you would have been done. If you would have shot them. It would have been a crime. Sometimes, justice just isn't fair. Your best bet would have been to video tape the whole thing, then sue them all for emotional distress, threats, vandalism, attempted murder, hell even rico.

Just my 2 cents,

Camain

Justice, as decided upon by the courts, is rarely fair.

The justice system is not designed to protect people, nor keep them safe. It's a scam to make lawyers and judges lots and lots of money.

They wear wigs and gowns and think that with their law degrees that they're better than the rest of us... Their time will come.
