Obama's health plan is not universal.

It only covers 45 million. No guarantee it will reduce anyones premium.

Here's my thread where I explain this.

I disagree about obama's energy plan.

Obama’s comprehensive New Energy for America plan will:
• Provide short‐term relief to American families facing pain at the pump

This was the Democrats 2006 common sense plan we have yet to see.

Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025

mission is already accomplished

Renewable resources (solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, biomass, and waste) currently provide nearly 12 percent of the Nation's electricity supply.

source

• Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined

Where are the details on how to achieve this? Combined we get about 34% of our oil from these places.

Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future.

Lets see not very detailed but we will go with it.

He is talking about 500K jobs a year. The question is are they really new and if it is a good estimate. Any jobs created will be filled with workers whose jobs have been eliminated due to the clean energy future. If you work in a polluting factory, how long will it be before automated technology comes in to create a cleaner environment? What do you think will happen to the workers?

• Put 1 million Plug‐In Hybrid cars – cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon – on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America

This is a good idea. The only worries I have is the infrastructure to sustain these vehicles and the effect this will have on rising electricity costs. I am also kind of skeptical about the built in America thing. But it is a good idea.

Barack Obama will require oil companies to take a reasonable share of their record‐breaking windfall profits and use it to provide direct relief worth $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a married couple.

Bad idea for consumers to pay for their own rebate. Oil companies make money off consumers which lead to profits. If you tax the profits the consumers pay in form of higher taxes.

here's another reason against this

Barack Obama has a comprehensive energy plan

If you agree that this plan is comprehensive, I must be missing pages.

It is very vague, lacks a lot of detail, and has numbers that seemed to be pulled out of the air.

Where is Obama going to get the money for health care? I was paying over$500 a month for insurance after I lost my job. That is 270 BILLION a year for health car for the 45 million now without.

Energy
25% from green energy is Not his idea. It comes from the UN and is already in effect.

House Concurrent Resolution 25
"The official title of the resolution [H. Con. Res. 25] as introduced is: "Expressing the sense of Congress that it is the goal of the United States that, not later than January 1, 2025, the agricultural, forestry, and working land of the United States should provide from renewable resources not less than 25 percent of the total energy consumed in the United States and continue to produce safe, abundant, and affordable food, feed, and fiber."

It is supposedly driven by 25x25 America's Energy Future This Web site states:

"25x'25 is a grassroots-led and -supported Renewable energy initiative. Across the country, farmers, ranchers, forest land owners and other leaders in the community are coming together in state-level alliances to explore how the 25x'25 vision can help accomplish state energy,"

Actually it is a United Nations Idea
“The 25x'25 Initiative is sponsored by the Energy Future Coalition, a project of the UN Foundation”

Ah yes, the 45 million without insurance, this came out four years ago too. When the research was done, they discovered that about 27 million of those "uninsured" CHOSE to be uninsured. They worked for companies that offered health insurance, but, they chose not to pay for insurance that they did not need because they were (are) in good health. (Exercise, eat right, have great (or at least better) genes)) NOW, that does leave 18 million without health insurance, of which many are children eligible for the SChip insurance programs or adults that need to get JOBS.

I have lived long enough to see a lot of presidents come and go. They all have an agenda and all hoped to win the seat, so will go to any lengths to say anything to get the vote. Remember: they lie! This applies to both candidates now.

When I was young it was far easier to believe what an authority said as I still believed in fairy dust! I wanted to believe what they said. Do you know how many lies one can hear in over 50 years of life?

A good assignment if anyone cares to do it would be to; go back to past presidential campaigns and see how many promises were actually kept by a president. Who had unequivocally the best score? Which party actually achieved the most...unequivocally?

Anyone with any amount of charisma can lie, people do it all the time! I now judge everyone and everything by this criteria: they look good, they may sound good, but do they "feel" right? Rarely am I wrong if I view things or people this way.

It is also important to remember that the president only has so much power. They can promise things till they are blue in the face (or until pigs fly) and it doesn't mean much, if they can't get it past. Or if the powers behind them won't let it!!

Since this thread was brought back to the forefront, I have to ask, Loki, what are your feelings towards the specifics of each candidate's Health Care plans now? I am interested in reading what more you have to say now that Senator McCain has delved into specific policy plans.

Truth being told, the economy is tanking,I'm wondering where all this money will come from?,I think the Dem's are blowing proverbial smoke up our keisters, only way that will happen if we become a socialist country,I see no good comming out of this,I'm thinking that bail out was to cover till Bush's presidency is completed, and I will be an unwilling participant

Well Im not even going to read the whole thing.
The OP posted some good and appropriate information. If youre too dumb to understand it or too narrow minded to want to. Then that's what is wrong with America.

I find it funny that I havent heard one good argument why it would be better for McCain/*Apaulin to be nominated. All I hear is stuff taken out of contex about Obama.

Like Ive been saying. The Republicans your mommy and daddy's were so fond of and told you that you are one of. Havent been in office for decades. The neocons arent for someone like us. They are for elitists, someone that would never waiste there time comming here. Trust me, if you think youre an elitist you arent.

Are you kidding? The economy is tanking. The government still makes a killing.
Obama is planning everything right. Its too bad he wasnt in office 6 years ago. This economy crap would have never come up. Hes going to bring a #load of scratch from the retaxing (bringing back billions). Hes going to eliminate unuseful government spending(saveing 100's of billions). Hes going to rebuild the infrastructure (brings back jobs).
The only thing he isnt doing (sofar) from a plan I had back in 2006 is:
Making it mandatory for the Banks and mortgage companies to renegotiate the loans.....which would have made the current crisis null.
Hes not going on a witch hunt for these people that made millions off of the blood of our military forces. I personally think they should be investigated...and have to repay every penny they made.
Unfortunately, Our country is so screwed up right now its going to take a good 2-3 years to get things back to normal.

I hear ya, I havent been here quite 50 years. But have seen my fair share over the last 40 or so. I have to ask you though.....we heard both the Bushes....and we know they flat out lied. Were hearing almost exacally the same rhetoric from McCain as we did the Bushes.
Tell me, What did Clinton lie about?
Seems to me he went into office with less but similar problems. The country was crap financially. But lowe and behold by the time he was out of office....the place was kickin. He closed down government to save money. He signed Nafta and made it work to our (the US's) advantage. # he was even trying to figure a way to eliminate taxes. we had a surplus, social security was bailed out, medicade was back inline....So what happend?
Bush got into office,
Cut taxes for the elitists.
Allowed everything bad about Nafta and the US to happen.
Offshored the jobs
Offshored the money
decimated the constitution and bill of rights

I just dont see how one could even consider trying to nominate someone that is connected so closely to a fraud of a leader.
