The current deal is the centrepiece of US efforts to bolster ties with India. However, the Bush administration must attempt to rush it through Congress before legislators break to prepare for November's elections - held at the same time as the presidential vote.
India says the deal is vital for it to meet its civil energy demands.

It seems the relationship between USA and India is warming ,India being a boom country in need of tech and USA wants a strategic parter in the region perhaps to counter China/Russia.

They stand by a democratic pakistan, and support them against the terrorists, but feel the need to back india's nuclear programme anyway..

and we wonder why the world cant stand the USA
