I'm at a loss to see how this is important? Relevant? Bad? I mean, seriously. The nitpicking of candidates has been bad enough but now we are ridiculing them for what kind of degree they hold? Come on now. Someone else already pointed out how you are comparing the credentials of a P candidate to the credentials of a VP candidate. Really, this isn't even a very logical objection. Holding a Bachelor in Arts is not a shame, a tragedy, a fault, a criminal past, or anything remotely worthwhile. Come on now. This is getting silly.

All candidates seeking our votes are presenting to us their resume and interviews. The education background of every candidate is very important. Education background is but one factor that we base our votes on. Please don't give politicians a free ride. The quality of our future and our children's future depends on it.

Deny ignorance.

We're voting for change in the White House right? Then why elect another lawyer? That don't make no sense at all.

Besides, she's running for Vice President, not for nomination to the Supreme Court. $5 says that Governor Palin is smarter than Senator Obama in every other aspect of life.

P.S. Ronald Regan was "just an actor".

I worked my way through 2 schools as well and it also took me 7 years.

Still this is a far cry from 6 schools in 5 years. I am just curious as what possibly could have been going on in her life that would have caused this.

Errr........GW Bush has an MBA from where? Education based on what? Obama taught a class based on a well known radical........so that makes him qualified how?

Some of the dumbest people I ever worked with had multiple PhD's. Brilliant based on a single issue, but dumb as a single rock in a box of dumb rocks.

Gov Palin has practical experience vs Obama and Biden's theory's.........

Good point! She was a journalism major so she should have a good start at that. I saw lots of people sliding by in college and lots of people working in a group to get their projects done when they should have been done solo.

As I implied, education is among many criteria that should be looked at when choosing a candidate to vote for.

I don't mind having a commander in chief who is well aware of the legal system. Everyone hates lawyers until they need one.


Actually the vice president MUST be ready to be president at a moments notice. The next president may well be picking future Supreme Court justices. Vice president is not an honorary position.



When you give me the criteria for determining how we are going to come to a decision about who is smarter in EVERY aspect of life I may well take you up on that offer.



I am not a huge RR fan but he served his country in WW2 and was Govenor of California for EIGHT years. California had a population of around 20 million in that time. He was born in Illinois and used to be a Democrat. He was also president of the Screen Actors Guild.

He was also more charming than Palin and that's a fact.

First, her degree means squat. She became Governor of Alaska. That's probably more of an accomplishment that writing stupid posts on ATS.

Second, you lied about her degree. Why? Are you really so desperate to degrade Sarah Palin that you need to spread lies? Is Obama really that weak of a candidate that you need to spread lies?

Third.... I would take my chances with a non-lawyer from middle America over a snobbish Harvard law grad every single time.

I don't know. Did Sam Walton or President Truman finish college? Walt Disney and Ray Kroc were high school drop outs. The large majority of Americans don't attend college. I think most people would prefer to have a hardworking, straight talking vice president who has actual job experience and a proven track record. It's just that kind of qualifications that has made America great. It's not about elitists and graduating from the best schools. It's about accomplishments. Personally, I'd vote for Palin any day before I ever voted for McCain, Obama or Binden. She's not about herself. She's about being for America first and Palin second. (Interesting how that become the Republican campaign theme.) The other three are just your typical politicians.

I just looked it up and you are absolutely right. It was science- not arts. Not that I think it is an issue either way and this thread seems very silly to me but it was observant of you to point that out!

So True! In my opinion, common sense and general 'life skills' outweigh book smarts anyday!

I have a brother in law who has a phd in pharmacy and his wife has a phd in psychology, However, neither of them do well in public everyday situations where the book smarts aren't needed and neither of them can carry on a conversation unless it's about pharmacy or psychology.

What worries me more about Palin academic wise is the fact she kept on switching around her degrees, not completing it but rather moving halfway through it to another degree.

Yes Palin is less educated and shes a whole lot less in other things but just a note in defense of Palin, there have been some great presidents in the past that were not educated but ran a good enough administration, like FDR I think?

Anyway its fair to note that besides his 894 out of 899th passing rank from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis McCain has never earned a university degree in his life. So technically Obama is more educated, will has triple the credentials in education than the McCain Palin ticket.

Its no wonder theres this "ivy league" conspiracy thing coming up again... where they try to link Obama to Bush interms of Harvard and Yale... I mean honestly..... what a way to cover your candidates lack of education, or the entire ticket might I add.....

Obama finished his graduate degree in law at the top of his class. McCain finished his standing 5th from the bottom of his class.

Today on the Randi Rhodes show they played multiple cuts of Palin and were litterally out of breath (the entire broadcast crew) from hours of laughter. Now I've listened to Randi Rhodes for many years, and I've never heard her run out breath with laughter ever before...and I have to say the cuts were very telling to say the least, and me and my friends in the room who were listening also were laughting our arses off...not sure what this means other than Palin is in way over her head...

You can add Foreign Relations to her experience and education! Didn't you see today?!?!? She sat down and had a "talk" with Hamid Karzi! Hey, a 20 minute "chat!" That's worth at least a BS in Foreign Affairs, right?

She is now fully educated and experienced to be President! Yup yup!
