I understand that completely, not everyone has the means to put up a garden to become entirely self sufficient. My reply was to the OP when he clarified the post about what one would need should they try this route.

In my haste to post my finding, I did fail to mention planting herbs as well. However, shouldnt eat up much room.

You can buy seeds online from many catalogs.

You should not use the hybrid seeds because you can't save seeds for next years crop. Although, some of the hybrids have great taste. So remember to always plant some of your garden to harvest for the seeds.
