I've always been a big fan of the TV series MASH. I was looking at the set location on Google Earth and came across this just to the south of the set location.



Anyone have an idea what it is? It can be found in Google Earth @

cant be a water tower with trees that close. Also, water towers need power lines to run the pumps. I would say forest service observation tower. our some other type of tower/tree fort


if you go to google maps and copy the coordinates you can clearly see the object along with two pictures that were posted to an area just North of the "disk" as we can refer to it as we should all agree that that is the shape.

If you zoom out you see that it is just North of Malibu, California.

One possibility would be the top of a farm type silo... are there high winds or tornadoes in the area.

But, seeing as how it is California, I would put money on forest service tower, what with all the wild fires.

seems pretty big, even for a water tower.

my first thought was helicopter platform.

If you look at the pictures posted near it, it is the old set of MASH
And the road connects from the set to the object.
I bet if you watch old reruns you will probably see it.
Amazing what one can spot.

Looks to be an old chopper pad. The painted H is not there any longer but it is regulation size 45 feet in diameter and is above the canopy with a stair case leading up to it on the right hand (East) side in this image.

Ok I think I know what it is.
It's next to the mash set in the malibu area.
It is a fire observation tower.
