8 More Shocking Revelations About Sarah Palin

www.alternet.org

1: Palin Tried to Ban Books From Local Library
2: Palin Apparently Doesn't Put "Country First" (she is/was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a sessionist movement.)
3: Palin's Love Affair With Earmarks
4: Palin Slashed Funding for Teen Moms
5: Crazy Reverend, Crazy Church (Ed Kalinins preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven)
6: McCain Picking Palin Reeks of Sexism... I will grant this is purely subjective but I also feel that it is fundamentally true.
7: She can't run a car wash (State records show the business ran into trouble with Alaska's division of corporations business and professional licensing after Palin became governor of the state in 2006. it had "not filed its biennial report and/or paid its biennial fees," which were more than a year overdue.April 3, 2007, the state went further and issued a "certificate of involuntary dissolution" because of the car wash's failure to file its report and pay state licensing fees.)
8: She lied about foreign travel (In an attempt to inflate her nonexistent foreign policy credentials, Palin's spokespeople stated shortly after her nomination that she had traveled to Germany, Kuwait and Ireland: you know, the three countries most likely to give rise to catastrophic national security emergencies in the next four years. But not only is Palin's travel history unimpressive, it was also being blatantly misrepresented. According Jim Aravosis, an Irish blogger has just revealed that Palin was in Ireland for a brief refueling layover.)

Obama has never given a speech endorsing Wright's positions... Palin has Ed Kalinins.

Her being a women definately was a big part,
All those anti-obama / hillary lovers who stated they rather vote republican than obama have just been sold.

I mean really, nothing pisses me off more, than angry women who are that emotional, they'd rather side with the 'enemy' than vote for someone who beat their idol.

Mccain just sealed their votes, regardless.

This election was bought long ago, and the new president already knows its his time to have a neo-con hand inserted up his rear.

I have read his book and he does not endorse Wright's views in it.

1. Havent seen any proof of this other than a few loosely connected quotes and actions that are days apart. I'n mot worried and I'm a librarian.
Besides, how can one support the 2nd Amendment and not the 1st? Oh wait, libs do it all the time in the reverse order.

2. That's a plus with me. Screw the fed. Let the states break apart.

3. I don't know enough about this one.

4. After it had increased she cut some back. Besides, they shouldn't be getting any of these socialist wealth-redistributed funds anyway. Nobody should.

5. Eh, I didnt care about Obamas crazy reverend I don't care about hers.

6. You "feel" this is true. LOL

7. Every business should fail to comply with government nonsense as a matter of course.

8. Oh no, she hasn't been to Uzbekestan! What do I care. The less we deal with other countries and their madness the better. All of this foreign intervention crap is a neo-con/war-mongering socialist invention anyway that has been nothing but trouble and Obama wants to meddle even more than Bush has.

The title of the book is derived from his surmons "Audacity of Hope".

And all the Palin threads on ATS are pure sexist and misogynistic in nature - none of this would've occurred if McCain selected a male Vice President candidate.

I never knew someone couldn't be President or Vice President because;

1) You have to be able to run a car wash
2) You shouldn't visit Ireland, Germany and Kuwait (which is an insult to those nations.)
3) You must be male.

I posted this on Justin Oldman's ongoing thread Clinton, Obama or Edwards? Who will it be? this morning:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

The most interesting thing about McCain choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate is this:

He chose a relatively inexperienced state politician who happens to be very pretty. And that is I think, the reason he chose her was her looks... young, pretty and feminine. More proof as if there isn't enough already that McCain just does not get it no matter what it is... in this case the appeal to women voters.

The reason I say this is that if he wanted to chose a conservative woman VP there are plenty out there with far more knowledge than Ms. Palin, Kay Bailey Hutchinson comes immediately to mind for one. I disagree with her on just about everything but that she has considerable experience is undeniable.
Olympia Snowe of Maine is another, though she is far more moderate than the right wing extremists who have hijacked the Republican party like... and then there is Elizabeth Dole.

Each of those three choices would say to women voters that McCain was taking them far more seriously than the Palin pick

I stand by that statement... If he really wanted to attract women voters he would have chosen someone of substance.

As it is the only reason he did chose a woman was to try and cull some disgruntled supporters of Clinton... if that weren't a possiblity for him odds are it would have been another old rich white man.

Hmmmm. Another attack for another day. You guys never rest.

And let's see who written this? A guy named Isaac Fitzgerald. You may have two guess what this guy is considering as his home first, but you figure it out for the very first guess.

Here is a hint. Not the U.S., that's for sure. A small lil' country what has the star of David in the flag and what Palin is not supporting. That's the reason why they're attacking.

BS.

She is a governor and Palin has more experience than the arrogant, demi-god Obama - who acts like he is already President. The arguments are weak here because her critics are trying to cover up the unjustified attacks against her - just because she is female.

Hillary faced the same problems too, Obama's campaign team were extremely sexist and bullied her out of the nomination.

Btw, can I point something out in your link grover?

You criticise Palin for visiting Germany, but can you please tell me which European nation Obama gave that "I am your leader" speech?

This is a pretty weak list:

"1: Palin Tried to Ban Books From Local Library" -- Unspecific. Asserted by a political opponent. Uncorroborated by the librarian in question.

"2: Palin Apparently Doesn't Put "Country First"" --

Members of 'Fringe' Alaskan Independence Party Incorrectly Say Palin Was a Member in 90s

""Gov. Sarah Palin first registered to vote in the state in May 1982 as a Republican, and she has not changed her party affiliate with the Division of Elections since that time."

"3: Palin's Love Affair With Earmarks" -- I think it's funny that "reform to end the abuses of earmark spending" converts to opposition to any earmark spending.

Where is it demonstrated that the purposes for which she used federal earmarks were abusive?

"4: Palin Slashed Funding for Teen Moms" -- Yes. Reduced the budget by 20% of a single home. Note that she didn't eliminate it.

I could just as easily argue that was yet another example of her fiscal conservatism.

"5: Crazy Reverend, Crazy Church" -- I dislike religious nuts as much as the next guy. But, really, there is no comparison to this guy's rhetoric and Rev. Wright's.

There are nuts....and then, there are nuts. I think I can confidently identify which one of the two is the larger nut.

"6: McCain Picking Palin Reeks of Sexism" -- Pure opinion...and it really helps when you manufacture the position that it's "McCain's idea that women will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket just because Palin has a vagina"

Where exactly did McCain say that?

Moreover, if you believe that to be true, why get so worked up about it? Doesn't that assure Obama a victory?

:shk:

"7: Palin Can't Even Run a Car Wash" --

News flash. Businesses miss registration deadlines all of the time. Trust me.

How that translates into "Can't Even Run a Car Wash" is laughable.

"8: Lied About Foreign Travel" -- Well, let's see.

In the narrative, the travel statements are expressly attributed to Palin's spokespeople and not Palin herself. So *she* didn't really lie, did she?

Moreover, from their own link:

Sarah Palin's abrupt appearance on the national stage sparked an enormous array of questions, one of which is: Has she ever traveled abroad?

I asked her new spokeswoman, Maria Comella, who noted that Palin visited Germany and Kuwait in 2007 to visit Alaska National Guard troops.

Comella said she'd also visited one other country: Ireland.

Source.

So the new spokeswoman, Maria Cornella, stupidly embellishes an Ireland visit.

Ok....so maybe one out of eight.

---

What an obvious hit piece designed to mislead the many who do not have time to actually dig into each of these ridiculous assertions.

This is beyond laughable. I knew that 2 and 4 were lies as soon as I read this thread as I've already seem them debunked. Five minutes of research told me that #1 was wrong as well so I quit researching. I'm assuming all of the rest are distortions as well and I bet I'm right.

The left is paddling like hell up river against the flow because they got caught with they're pants and knickers down when McCain chose Palin. They had the dirt on everybody else all set to go and then those bad guys on the right threw them a curve ball and they are swinging wildly hoping to connect. Total BS by the Soros mob and the minions of socialism.

Let's add to the list, shall we?

She ran as a “fiscal conservative” for Mayor. And yet during time as Mayor, she increased govenment spending by over 33%. She also increaded taxes by 38%. She did reduced property taxes but increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

But even with these huge tax increases she ended up having to borrow money for the city; she inherited a city with no debt and left it 22 MILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT. This for a town of 6000 people.

AND, she had made a campaign promise to cut her own salary. In the end she only cut it $4000 but paid $60,000 (almost the same as her own salary) a city administrator for the town because she couldn't handle the job of Mayor.

And worst of all, it seems she views the war in Iraq as...well here, her own words:

Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants.
