Let’s see, how to appeal to all those wavering independents and disaffected Hillary supporters? Let’s insult those stupid Democrats and Obama people reeeel good and kick ‘em in the teeth, sneer at their efforts to be inclusive, to work toward unity and rehabilitate America’s damaged image around the world, or to help people in great need, and then make a shameless plea for their support at the polls. Scoff, especially rudely, at their community organizing efforts – the ultimate and most effective hands-on grassroots outreach programs that help people in need directly where they live – especially if government has turned its back. If Sarah Palin wasn’t belittling the community organizer, Rudy Giuliani before her was literally laughing at the very words “community organizer” every time he uttered them.

If you want smart-ass remarks and cruel, arrogant putdowns, and you want to talk trash about Barack Obama, Palin and pals are your kind of people. Palin proved in her big speech that she could sling mud as well as shooting moose. Yes, she can dish it out. And she can read that speech that was written for her by the McCain campaign guys very well. Here’s hoping she’ll be able to take it, too, because she made it clear that she’s ready to play with the big boys – on equal footing, and to be as mean, nasty, and insulting if not moreso. Here's my personal outrage: Here the Republicans and womens groups are chastising 'the media' (also referred to as a non-specific 'They'/'Them' in order to tag it to the Democrats) for questioning Palin's ability to juggle what is clearly an armful of personal/family matters. The usual quote is something like, 'They don't ask men those same questions. It's sexist!'

Really?

Well, if you have ever been through Family Court you'll hear the exact opposite argument. 'The woman has to have custody of the children.' 'Woman are better able to raise children.' 'Women shouldn't be required to work during the kids' early years so they can have their mother at home.'

Hypocritical and convenient double-standard. I call BS.

So it wouldn't be fair then for the Republicans to question how the Obamas plan to juggle their family if they won - with the dad being president and the mother being the first lady, their duty roster would be quite full.

Boy, I'm seeing a lot of sour grapes this morning in this thread and it's coming from a lot of people I know to be supporting Obama, who is a suspected criminal with known ties to questionable characters.

You talk about the Republicans being in denial, I see a lot of it coming from you Obama supporters. I say to you guys, TOUGH SH*T. It's like you welcomed the DNC and all the crap spewed from there with open arms, but when the RNC has its chance you all pick it apart because you can't stand to admit that Sarah Palin knocked one out of the ballpark with her speech last night.

If you Obama supporters are upset about anything that was said at the RNC, then that truly makes my day.

Sponsoring legislation to help protect our troops is also a noble cause.

Palin doesn't owe anybody an apology.

I actually lived on the south side of Chicago as a teenager. The residents constantly complained about the run down buildings they lived in, the abandoned vehicles that littered the streets and alleyways, the graffiti that covered the wall, and the ever present crime that made it unsafe to go out at night. At one point these were all nice, blue-collar, working class neighborhoods.

The problems cited above were not of the city or the government's making, but that of the residents themselves. Rather than try to make improvements to their own neighborhoods, that would have cost them nothing such as picking up the trash around their buildings and on the streets, calling to have abandoned vehicles removed by the city, or painting over the graffiti that covered most building surfaces, they did nothing.

Most were even too lazy to place their trash in the garbage barrels provided by the building owners. They'd simply toss it out their windows into the alleyways, expecting someone else to clean up their mess. They'd relieve themselves in the stairwells rather than use the plumbing provided, then complain to the building owners about the smell.

They didn't believe it was their job to help maintain the community, it was somebody else's. They'd whine and cry to the city about their living conditions, and at the same not lift a finger to help alleviate the problem.

The former residents of these neighborhoods, didn't require help from the city to keep their buildings and streets clean. They took pride in where they lived, and took an active role in keeping it that way. Community Organizers were not needed.

Most of the crime was perpetrated by the children of these same people. They had no respect for other people's property, and when someone did try to improve their own living conditions, they'd be sure to thwart them by breaking out windows, spray painting the walls, or harassing the person for trying to improve their situation. for those who wished to pull themselves up out of the muck, it fostered a sense of hopelessness.

The supposed community organizers were for the most part, all talk and no action. If running their mouth could get something done they were all over it, if it required any real work or effort on their behalf, it didn't get done. Somebody else was expected to provide the labor and foot the bills.

As for Barack, his activities on the south side of Chicago were simply a means to launch his political career. Everyone knows that. He ingratiated himself to powerful black community leaders like Wright, because he knew they could introduce him to the right people, and help cull the black vote for him. He quit working as an organizer by his own admission after three short years. The neighborhoods he worked in are no better off today than they were oh so many years ago.

CNN profiled both McCain and Obama a wek ago, and actually showed some of the neighborhoods he formerly worked in. Not surprisingly, they're still ghettos. If this is an examples of his executive abilities, we're all in trouble if he gets elected..

Why you believe Governor Palin owes him or anyone else an apology eludes me..

No biggie. Let's also not forget that Palin has a son who is about to be deployed to Iraq.

I actually don't think she owes an apology for stating her opinion. If she thinks that community organizers don't do anything or have any responsibility, that's her opinion. I'm sure she turned the stomach of many community organizers and the people they have helped all over the country last night.

And, while it's sad that they aren't appreciated by her, it's one woman's opinion... and apparently many of the Republicans in the audience agree with her because she was soundly applauded for the comment and people are lauding it as one of their favorite lines of the speech this morning.

It shows me where the party as a whole stands on community service. And I think it's better to know this now, before the election. Hopefully, it will motivate people who appreciate the work of community organizations to get out and vote... For Obama.

The community organizers will take it for what it is depending on which party they belong to.

If Dems, they won't like it.

If Reps, they will take it as no big deal.

If Independent, they will let bigger or other issues decide who they will vote for.

It's a good thing you feel so strongly about community service BH, as Obama has plans for all of us on this matter. He wants to make it Mandatory.

I hear so many of the people on the left griping about how those on the right let people like Hannity and Rush do the critical thinking for them. Well this is the exact same line that the Democratic response to the address was developing last night on Larry King. I don't remember the names of the panel but it was the brunette Stephanie (something) from Air America, a horse looking monotone female, monotone Democratic Representative, and one other Dem female I can't remember.

But really let's face it, anyone who believes that community organizers are such selfless noble people, were never going to vote for McCain/Palin anyway.

Palin has nothing to apologize for. Except for the audacity to accept the VP nomination to run against Lord Obama....that's racist you know!

When I think of the term "Community Organizer", I think of Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and now Lord Obama.

She personally owes me thirty minutes of my life back after listening to rhetoric dribble. As well as the pain and suffering of listening to 'that voice'. Good gravy man. I couldn't take it. The community organiser thing was definitely hitting below the belt and a cheap shot.
She might as well have been speaking about herself for a moose hunt and hockey practice.

I have been to the south side of Chicago, I used to work construction and i was sent to 175th and stoney island, do you know where that is?

We had to put up huge tarps and fence the site in because the street hoods were firing shots at the workers, 2 workers were shot, one almost fatal. The south side is a hole and obarry only went there to get street cred so he could run for office. The south side should be leveled.

Libs are so blind, you think republicans attacked obarry last night, no, they called him out for clown he is. There was not a single lie told last night, obarry is even pointing to his campaign saying that gives him executive experience...lol, the guy is a hack and he has duped you all into thinking he is the messiah.

Why cant anybody point out that they disagree with Obama. Its politics, it is not supposed to be nice. A good politican plays to win. I would rather have someone point out the stuff that is wrong with their opponent then promise to solve all my problems just so I will vote for them.

Can someone tell me how the Obama/Hillary agenda is not socialist? Do we want to be a socialist country. It doesnt seem to work so well. Look at the USSR, look at France. What is wrong with capitalism and survival of the fittest? It has worked pretty well for us.
