I thought it was just me, god is she irritating...

Imagine her calling you for dinner.

I imagine you wouldn't want to make her call you twice. Unless you wanted to get "field dressed". LOL

Speaking of a calamity, there apparently was a security incident in the crowd during her speech:

0:45 p.m. A pair of Code Pink activists just got to the very edge of the stage and were a moment away from apparently running on stage, right by the Kentucky slot on the floor next to a host of McCain's most senior staffers.

Article

Good grief. How in the hell does this happen at an event like this?

Yes, I saw them escorting one of them out of the hall.

They should have let them get on stage. It would have been fun watching Sarah whuup their arses!

Oh, I'm sure Obama would have complained that they weren't read their rights first. Then again...animals really don't have rights, do they?

She's good, but more of a "reporter on the scene" kinda good.
Tonight was easy for her, it was all one-sided, but the debates?

Biden will eat her alive...

You are making the same exact mistake all of her previous opponents have made. Maybe you should take your eyes off her pretty frame for a few seconds (if you are able) and take a look at the political carcasses strewn about behind her.

Maybe if Joe has enough drinks before the debate, he can slosh his way through it without saying anything too terribly horrific.

In the end it won't matter. Either way, he will hand him his rear end with a smile.

She is an American original.

She is what 99.99% of politicians CLAIM they are, but aren't.

She is the type of people who people CLAIM they want, but some are too timid to take the step. Luckily, the people of Alaska are risk takers and it's paid off BIG TIME. First for them, and soon to be for the rest of us.

Oh, better get used to the voice. You'll be hearing it for at least the next 12-16 years.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they won't change the US Constitution to allow her more terms after she's served her first 8 as POTUS.

No specifics on policy at all, interestingly.

I thought she got off to a good start, and then trailed into partisan vitriol and BS...

This kind of stuff plays well to their hard-right base, but I expect it will lose then support among independents. All the Republicans were playing to the hard right tonight in general, not just Palin.

But most of the country isn't hard-right, and I don't think they really understand that.

IMO the Republicans lost the election tonight - not Palin's speech specifically, but the nasty chiding tone that typified all the speeches from Romney's onward...

60%+ of Americans identify themselves as "conservative". Only about HALF that number ID themselves as liberal. She's "middle-American", but PLEASE keep under-estimating her, just as all of her defeated political opponents have. It will probably make it less painful if you don't see it coming.

There's a reason why she has an approval rating of over 80% in her state - THE most popular governor in the US. The rest of us are just starting to find out why.

In case you aren't familar with that smell that's still hanging in the air...it's cooked Obama goose.

She did a good job. I was impressed because I thought she may come out robotic or tense considering the trashing she has taken in the press all week, but she held her head up and came across confident and even fired back some shots of her own.

Palin comes across as a genuinely decent human being. I hope politics do not get the best of her..

LOL I'd say so far, she's got the best of politics.

When the boogieman goes to bed...he checks the closet for Sarah Palin.

She performed as expected - rallied the troops and showed her stuff. An excellent first performance imho.

But regardless of the presentation, regardless of strength she is still an evangelical Protestant who opposes a woman's right to choose and has an expressed more than an interest in teaching creationism in the public schools.

Not a snowballs chance she will get my vote.

B.

And not a snowball's chance she will need it.

Absolutely. She's brilliant, isn't she?

And to think, Obama and his team have been so unashamedly triumphalist in recent weeks.

How silly and embarrassing is that going to seem looking back?

McCain + Sarah Palin = Masterstroke

The Republicans will win it.

Of course. We also were just introduced to McCain's successor.

Sorry but I dont share your excitment...all she prove tonight is that she know how to read words fed to her on a teleprompter, maintain her composure at a high stage, be snide and sarcastic.

We also got a glance and her dreams of pipelines all over the country, even when gas prices are going down but what can you expect, talking about a lady that prays to God for pipelines.

Another thing when she said this

Well, I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly these last few days that, if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone.

But -- now, here's a little newsflash. Here's a little newsflash for those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this great country.

www.cnn.com...

Isn't the same whining that she criticize Hillary Clinton for here

Ridiculous in my opinion!

Um, no, she did not "whine" about being treated unfairly because she's a woman. Let's face it, she's not being attacked by the media simply because she's a woman, she's being attacked because she is a maverick that doesn't
"play ball" with the liberal establishment.

And about God wanting us to use our natural resources? Excuse me, but, well, DUH. That's why it's there! LOL

That is okay that you don't share it

However, I lived in Alaska and saw her speak many many many times. So, what I saw tonight is WHO AND WHAT SHE IS

She may have read a scripted speech on a teleprompter....but the way she delivered it is how she is off teleprompter. Yes, its just my word....but I have seen her for the past few years

The way she deliverd her speach tonight, is the way she will deliver all her debates and interviews.

Which is why come debate time, she'll be wiping the floor with Joe Biden's hair plugs.

Loam, you just summarized in three lines what a lot of "experts" and political consultants get paid big bucks to analyze.

I've got another freebie:

Obama's people have it all wrong when they think it's a good idea to attack Palin on the experience front.

The electorate EXPECTS change this election cycle. It's why McCain and Obama are on their respective tickets.

So in this cycle, when you attack someone for not having the experience to be President, you immediately abandon your own 'outsider' status. Rather ironic, huh, coming from the Change Candidate?

Bad move in this environment.

Additionally, they show what little experience they have between the 2 of them. She got more votes running for "podunk, alaska" mayor, then Joe Biden got running for President.

She has run many different governments and boards and councils, while all Obama has run is his mouth.

Listening to both sides... I understand where each side is getting their shots. Honestly, I had my sights set on voting for Obama the whole time, however, I can't stand the fact that the Dems keep referring to Palin's 'greatest' experience being that of a city council member. Does experience as govenor not count for anything in this race?

If we are going to dismiss the current position and take the previous, then shall we not say that 1,100 votes and an 12m annual budget is vast as compared to a community organizer?

C'mon dems! Give me something to vote for quick! Quit rebutting everything and take your own stand!!! I really want to vote for you, but you are not giving me substance!

Please make sense of how you expect to get the country out of debt and then reduce taxes for 95%, or just increase taxes for those who make more than 32k or 250k, whatever it is today. Maybe it is increasing business costs and then I lose my job but at least you didn't raise my taxes?

I need answers!

Don't hold your breath waiting for any answers of substance from the democrats.

You might as well jump on the Straight Talk Express with Johnny and Sarah. It just ran over Obama. Then backed up for good measure.

Sadly you failed to realize that this was NOT her speech, she merely did what she has done for her entire political career: Read from a paper that was written by someone else. She is a pretty face used to preach other peoples ideals and policies.

Her speach was written by the same guy who wrote a majority of President Bush's "inspiring speeches", the same ones that convinced this country that it was right for us to invade Iraq.

No wonder she is totally convincing the same people Bush convinced by using the EXACT same speech writer as him, they all fall for the same tricks EVERY TIME

"The speech was written by Matthew Scully, who met Palin for the first time last week." - thats coming from an article that pretends to be "going easy" on palin which is because the media got blasted by McCain's campaign for taking advantage of such an easy target as Palin and her history

Her point was, we need energy independence. She emphasized it when she said a storm in the Gulf Coast area should not force us to tap into our strategic reserves, and when she talked about Russia using energy as a weapon.

Joe Biden is on FOX News right now. He is very tense and defensive.

That's irrelevant. Every presidential candidate uses speechwriters; none write their own speech. Thay don't have time at this stage of the game.

It's the delivery that is the key.

Look folks, you need to realize what McCain is really doing here.

No party has every won the White House following an unpopular war. EVER. The statistics are absolutely against John McCain and the republicans getting elected. He knows this all too well. The man has been in politics for a very long time. He’s over 70 years old and he knows that he most likely will not win. So, why did he pick Palin?

What John McCain is doing is a final act of good will upon the people of America. A last uh-raaaah if you will. What he is doing is shaking up the status quo by introducing into the lime-light a True-Blue American representative that most everyone would love to have as their Governor or Senator and yes, even president.

You forget that the republican party doesn’t like John McCain. The Bush administration has done nothing but beat the guy up ever since the 2000 election. What John McCain is doing is busting up the Good Old Boy network in the Republican party by introducing a woman who actually does represent “Core Values” and not just big business.

She fought the oil companies, instead of cowing to them.
She told the media to go to hell, not come over for dinner.
She forced the corrupt politicians out of office, instead of shaking hands and making deals.

What John McCain is doing for American is trying, in one very calculated pick, to give us back our government and our republican party.

John McCain may not make it to the White House this time around. But he knows damn good and well, that after 4 years of Barrack Obama the psycho, America will turn back to Palin, and Palin will pick around her a real cabinet or supporters who will do the right thing, not the corrupt thing. Essentially, McCain is setting up the “New” republican party that he knows we will desperately need in short order after Obama.

When I seen Obama try to make the case that he had more experience than Palin and he used the fact that " Well I have run this campaign" and she has only been mayor and Governor of Alaska all while he was fighting off tears and bumbling because he was craping his pants just over the question, I literally about choked on my ice cream.

Palin is a pit-bull, While everyone in Washington was arguing over how and what to do with our energy problem she used her authority to make sure that the ball would get rolling very fast on the only real solution that we have and that is to pump out the oil that we have. She laid the ground work by smashing the environmental groups and the people opposed to pumping OUR oil. (She is building the pipeline that we are going to need).

She cut spending and gave the money back to the people and at the same time she gave us the path to energy Independence.

I was cheering when she said, "Take it from someone who knows we have lots of oil on the north slope of Alaska".
Put this woman in the White House and we will be rid of foreign oil for good. We have all the oil and natural gas we need so lets get it done.

I think McCain made a great pick in Palin and I hope they win big because I for one do not want someone with no experience running this country. The only experience Obama has is in running for office not doing anything in one.

I wated to post this, as it shows that she REALLY can deliver....even without a teleprompter.

BREAKING: Sarah Palin "Winged" Her Speech Because of "Broken" Teleprompter
Posted by: Erick Erickson

Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 01:00AM

Halfway through Sarah Palin's speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.

According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani's speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.

Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.

Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.

Sarah Palin. Winner.

www.redstate.com...

She barely skipped a beat.

I REALLY look forward to her taken on Biden

I gotta admit, she has got me excited. Before I was going to vote against Obama, but now I'm really energized and in full support of McCain/Palin!

I'm looking forward to hearing a little more substance, but I have no doubt this woman will deliver. The both of them really could bring change to Washington!

I'm REALLY looking forward to the debates. I think both Palin and Mccain will trounce Obama and Biden. Those two have been sustained on the teet of the media. Once they are in the ring, with nobody to carry their water, it will all fall apart.
