Now that you mentioned it, I was wondering because there was part in the speech in which she went silent and I thought it was an applause pause but it made no sense because it came all of the sudden. The audience didnt applaud and I told myself : OMG!! The teleprompter just stop working!!" The pause lasted like 7-10 seconds, thats nothing big though, but for a moment I felt bad for her, it reminded me of all those time that I got completely blank while delivering a presentantion.

The political map has definately change since then, if not check the last Congressional election and you can see how much, the states that she mentions are key states that McCain need to win in 2008, you can check many reports that talk about that.

We can have a discussion about it , but please not here as I dont want to derail the thread.

I really liked her speech...what she said and how it was delivered. She seems to be a very strong, independent, and opinionated woman.

I think a lot of the recent attacks on Palin are due to the dems getting scared, and in getting scared, they try to discredit her. I am not a strong McCain supporter, but I like the way Sarah Palin handles herself and how she is handling all the crap that has been thrown at her the past few days.

The media has asked more questions in the past five days about her 17 year old daughter then they ever asked obama about his "friendship" with William Ayers. And I also have to wonder why the media makes such a big thing about her being the VP when they think she should be staying at home to take care of her kids? Is her husband not considered capable by the leftist media? Did they question biden about his being a single father and still keeping his job in the Senate? Women today can and do work full time and raise their kids and take care of their familes. Maybe it would help if some of the leftist weren't so two-faced.

Listening to both sides... I understand where each side is getting their shots. Honestly, I had my sights set on voting for Obama the whole time, however, I can't stand the fact that the Dems keep referring to Palin's 'greatest' experience being that of a city council member. Does experience as govenor not count for anything in this race?

If we are going to dismiss the current position and take the previous, then shall we not say that 1,100 votes and an 12m annual budget is vast as compared to a community organizer?

Please make sense of how you expect to get the country out of debt and then reduce taxes for 95%, or just increase taxes for those who make more than 32k or 250k, whatever it is today. Maybe it is increasing business costs and then I lose my job but at least you didn't raise my taxes?

I am seeing predictable responses so far to the speech: the media gushing over a new star, the Democrats hated the speech and Republicans loved it.

I don't get the feeling it changed any minds on either side, really.

Still, she didn't blow it, which is I am sure what many people were hoping for.

I would have to say that this is one of the most powerful political speeches of the 2008 election. I think that she did better than Bill Clinton did. She was able to connect with the part of the GOP that John McCain didn't. I think that she is the lightning rod that the republicans were missing and now have. I see them winning election. Obama should have picked Hillary then the democrats wouldn't have nothing to fear.

She is now the face of a new GOP. Best speech yet by anybody at any convention this cycle. I like her, she is one tough lady.

This one is not as hard as it looks to understand but I have my reservations that it would work because of all the variables in play.

It works like this, you increase taxes to the top 5% wage earners which already contribute more than 50% of the tax revenues the IRS collect, then you cut a couple of subsidize here and there to companies in oil and it adds more revenues, close corporate loopholes that would add more revenues too, so basically with those in play and some more I guess, you can reduce the taxes of the rest of the 95% because they contribute less than 50 percent already in tax revenue.

EDIT TO ADD: Fisnishing the Iraq War and not letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire will also save and would bring some more tax revenue.

I LOVE this gal. So to the point and I think McCain / Palin will be a refreshing team. I personally find her accent beautiful and warm, a little goofy a la the movie FARGO too.

There's something I sense in regards to McCain in that I expect him to pull off his mask once elected and the face of Ron Paul is revealed. I don't mean it literally, obviously, but I feel they as a team are going to strip Washington down to the wood and repaint it GREAT again - I really do. And in a way that Ron Paul would be happy about. I really think they are going to take the ship in a new positive direction.

McCain is old enough, wise enough and experienced enough in ways that we can show on paper, through footage of him working and completing projects. His age doesn't scare me either for a few reasons:

1) He's got good genetics! See his mom?!?! He'll make it into his late 80's for sure.

2) *If* he did die in office, A VP that takes no shizzle will be in power and welcomed to stay in power to finish the term by the people. I really think she's going to WOW us! (not in a Wip-it-Out-Wednesday way either/unfortunately hehehe!)

3) Knowing that the rope is running out, you are going to try to give back, make good with your maker etc. I believe even McCain has at least an average joe's conscience.

McCain has been earning our respect for years and hasn't had to. There was nothing for him ever to gain by being in power. He had enough of everything and didn't need to work a day if he didn't want to. What drives a man to do all the things he has done and willing to continue doing till the reaper comes? The lefties will say "power!". Well, what is driving ANYONE to run in that case? I think he's had plenty of power already and needs to justify his existence even more yet. I can hear the enemies (why won't you just die?!?!?!).

It would be nice to see a Ron Paul "write-in revolution" happen and succeed, but its not going to. However, McCain would be VERY VERY wise to recruit Ron Paul for some serious portfolio and a lot of autonomy. Ron Paul is very much a needed player on an offensive line to fix this mess of a country no matter the cost!

Anyhow, Sarah Palin is now America's sweetheart and a pin up for my office. I dig her completely and feel a good vibe about her being at the helm, or near it.

Its either she's genuine or she's the antichrist as there would be no greater deception possible by even a supernatural being. She is genuine.

I thought her speech started out slow, especially after the Gulliani speech, but she finished very strong.

She has raw talent. It is amazing to see someone deliver a speech so well and at the same time seem so normal.

This lady is not an inexperienced politician. I can tell right now that she can work over people very hard.

It seems to me that that the republicans aren't voting for McCain anymore, they are voting for Palin. It is no wonder why the media is trying so damn hard to destroy her, she in not only very dangerous for this election, she is young and can be very devastating in the future.

By the way, is it just me or did Chris Matthews seem to age about 10 years in one night?

So I listened to her speak and just enjoyed seeing with my eyes and hearing with my ears that she could actually take on Obama if need be.

and I look through the threads and read the posts

and realize that her detractors have absolutely nothing, nothing concrete, nothing to say about this lady that is relevant, it's days and her 'experience" is still on the table and it's such a beat horse so fast.

The fear can be tasted, A normal American from outside Washington might yet get into the White House, the globalists are scared, the socialists are scared

And I have to wonder what is being said tonight after hearing her speak, I am sure that Mccain pulled a real fast one, not signing a Neocon to run the show behind the scenes... some were I guess, hopeing to pull a lose/lose on the American people and this was...already wraped, America was over, ready for the final stage of a world governemnt agenda...

Some must have been hopeing she was awful tonight...

But no the dilema that Mc Cain a brilliant man in his own right pulled.. there is no Cheney, there Is No G Bush Senior..No Lyndon B Johnson

So some out there tonight probably have asked, what can we do? because if they kill him... an American controls the white house, If they don't he has shown that, he isn't going to Listen to orders...

So there is nervousness tonight because America might not be taken from us just yet, they have to count on an Obama victory and... it seems the Lady can speak and isn't going to be a pushover

She was reading a speech that they helped prepare for her! Unless she's totally illiterate, she should be able to read it....and as an "experienced" politician, she should be able to give it a little animation. I found her to be annoyingly sarcastic and cutesy at times. And that voice! I'm glad that she looks a little bit like Diane Keaton and Tina Fay because that voice is straight out of the dentist's office. She wants to be known as "the barracuda." Then all bets are off. Bring on the debate...but no holds barred...no protection because of her supposed "novice" position in national politics. The bar of expectations should be equally high for her. What I would like to see is the debate between Hillary and Sarah. One other point: whenever her experience is brought up, the politicos protect her by saying, "But she has more experience than Obama does!" Yet they say that Obama isn't qualified. So do we want someone like her because she is simply better than someone who doesn't meet their standard. In other words, let's say Obama is an F. Do we want a D? Weak logic, methinks. A bridge to nowhere!
