I feel kind of bad about the fact that I have linked in a number of documents from Scribd and did not even think to check what might be an alternative purpose for the site. While they provide free hosting of your documents and a great search capability of those documents they may have another function not mentioned in the site's privacy policy.

Data Mining for the Government it seems is a side business. When visiting scribd I noticed something interesting. A port scan started on my machine from an outfit called Beyond the Network America Inc 209.8.114.13 which is located in 12100 Sunset Hills Road, Reston, VA 20190.

I did some research on this site and given the fact that it is located just outside the beltway I kind of guessed it was full of government contractors and this was confirmed with a few minutes of searching. Other organizations in this building include some well known gov technical security contractors like SAIC, SMEI, Council of Science Editors, and the International Biometric Society.

Here is a copy of the port scan flood on my machine although I have edited out my IP and the port range used in the scan for security purposes.

I could be wrong on my assumptions I will be the first to admit. I have sent them a request for more information about the purpose of these intrusive port scans from this outfit that is being directed through their site. If you do a little searching on scribd you will find some classified documents in fact.

It makes me wonder if this is a kind of honey pot operation, or if it is just strictly data mining user uploaded info. Perhaps the port scans are to check out the people who are visiting the site for some reason. Port scans are pretty intrusive though. They are often used to look for open ports for the purpose of intrusion so I am very suspicious of this site now. I will update this thread if the company responds to my questions.

My scribe link is still up and author Lyne is a well known griper
about the government, corporations and the Illuminati (whoever
that are.. boo .. good for a Halloween's costume).

So if anything, people still put docs up even if the government, corporations
or Illuminati agents want them down.

Lyne was a character study by the then unknown Steven Spielberg
and came up with the Harrison Ford character in The Mosquito Coast (1986)
that continually griped about the government and worked on inventions.

After Lyne's books came out, I think we got Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory.
Once the Illuminati spread lies they keep focused.

You or your friend's material no matter how controversial will likely be left up. It is the viewers and the authors info that will be monitored and the port scans provide the potential for intrusion information being forwarded to other agencies. That is the honey pot aspect of this kind of info OP I suspect.

Thats interesting, I should check the down loads.
Lyne calls them illegal copies and said perhaps 1000 on the internet.
One link did go down, so up pops another.

His book sales might be monitored as well.
As well as Intel supported confusion like scalar waves.

Of the hundreds of books helped and paid for by the Intel community,
they might not even care about except to average out what lies
will pick up the most common denominator confused person.

Physics at educated levels is not presented on the net.
Common phrases hyped over and over again are very weak.

Is there a correlation between the source of the port scan and the website other than it happening when you visited? Are the IPs from the same company or same area? If not, why are you assuming there is a connection, it could have been a timing coincidence.

Interesting story

It happens every time I visit the site. If you install Peer Guardian 2 and load the spyware and malware and government IP filters and run HTTP blocking you will see the same thing when you visit the site and you can confirm everything I have said for yourself. It is testable or I would not say it is a problem. I researched this pretty carefully and then released my conclusions. When the spyware and malware filters are active and updated visit the site yourself and you will see that the page just about will not load the because most of the components are all loaded from this spy company servers through the site you are visiting but do not originate on scribd.com. The Peer Guardian software blocks TCP connections from known spyware companies.

Oops, I have that program and never did see much activity on Scribd.
They must have me tagged already.
I must have let down the shield once.

What about w98, I must have downloaded a few on that machine.
PG2 is on there as well but never see as much activity as on an XP computer.

So many pdfs I don't think I read them all.
I'll check them out later, its great to find the WLA (Worlds Leading Authority)
on the many faces of nonsense and PLoH (popular lies of history) or
suppression or forgot to mentions of the past.

Why would the Scribd trackers follow the lie takers, which the CIA placed to
fend off the truth seekers, the tracking would be on the truthful material.

No, to make sure the trackers did not stumble on the truthful or helpful
all would be traced.

Free Energy must be the biggest dis info area.

www.faraday.ru...
Recommended energy material up for sale.

This project might be worthwhile
but I have a 2A water pump and thought a smaller scale best.

Now don't tell the lie makers.

ED: I see Quantcast but none of the others on the link I have about
the Science Dictatorship in my signature.
I guess that's too well known to bother with.

ED+: I think the Beyond company has a link to your computer for
downloads. PG2 was created to fend off P2P tracking or disruptive
ips. Do you have any open torrent files?

ED++: The workbench I've seen holding up Amazon graphics.

ED+3: this might work better:
preview.tinyurl.com...

You have to turn on the HTTP blocking and have the spyware filter turned on to see this result I am speaking of. The software is set to allow HTTP by default. If you allow HTTP it allow all TCP connections to your computer. I have done this several times So I am sure of this and it is not on a UDP port protocol like torrents are. Make sure your spyware site filter file is updated and current as well as having HTTP blocking turned on.

Rense.com is a page that stopped loading for me awhile back.

There is a thread on its being attack:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

I have not been there in quite some time.

Perhaps it has so much infiltration it went down.

Are you sure it isn't the software you're running that is doing this??

I just visited the site, and nothing. Nada.

EDIT:

as well as having HTTP blocking turned on.

I suspect you don't understand how the software works.
