HAMPTON, N.Y. ó Attacks on two heifers and a dog ó the latter one fatal ó have people wondering what sort of deadly animal is prowling the border region near Route 22A.
On New Yearís Eve, Steve Mestyan of Hickey Road found his dog, which had been missing about 36 hours, critically injured and cowering under a trailer after an apparent run-in with another animal.
ìIt was a horrible sight,î Mestyan said of the familyís mixed breed pet, Babe. ìShe was pretty well mangled up.î
The dog had ìhuge bite marks the size of two fistsî on her shoulders, and ìclaw marks like razor cuts,î he said.
