Not a bad idea. It has the additional effect of making the dwelling look like an abandoned place, with nothing of value within.

When my Bro was in N. Ireland the barrack blocks inside the compounds had no windows, they were bricked up with only the door for ventilation and the ceiling light for illumination.
Rough places they were, but they kept the soldiers inside safe and sound.
