Now don't get me wrong, there are alot of things about Obama I really like, and I care for McCain even less, but Obama's switching on and off of his southern accent really irks me for some reason. Do I want a president who will change his personality to fit whatever audience he happens to be around? This is really not a black/white issue. Seeing a persons demeanor change so rapidly kinda worries me. Cant he just be himself all the time? Whats the deal? Does this translate into wartime character? Is it just me or am I looking at two different people?

I'm sorry but the only word I heard him say that may be "Southern " was "yall".
I was born in Georgia and I know what a southern accent sounds like.
I have a heavy accent and Obama does'nt.

You clearly did not watch both videos. If you cannot tell the difference, I don't know what else to tell you, and I don't want to come off as insulting.

I most certainly did watch both videos and I didn't hear a southern accent,
Maybe it's because he is not from the souhtern united states.
Find some more videos and post them here but these 2 do not sound southern.

Try this thread -

Obama, accent change we can believe in

This type of thing is (was) being discussed there.

Thank you flyersfan. MysticaRose, you may want to travel outside of Georgia, or at least check out the other thread. Not everyone in the U.S. talks with a drawl.

It has no bearing on me, and I had not noticed it before, but yes, he does seem to have more of a southern accent in that 2nd clip. It definitely is not as pronounced as what you hear in the deep south such as Georgia or Alabama, but I think there definitely is a mild southern accent in the 2nd video that isn't there in the first.

Again, its not an issue to me, only an interesting observation.

I KNOW everyone in the US doen't speak with a southern accent.
I don't live in Georgia . I've lived in Florida most of my life.
If it makes you feel any better I did listen to FlyersFan video of Obama speaking about Selma Alabama. He does sound more like a "black" accent but to be truthful, Obama has missed his calling.
He sounds more and more like a preacher to me.
The remark that you made saying not all people have a drawl in the US is offensive to me.
I'm proud of my accent and proud of my heritage.
