Yes, times have changed.
I guess I remember how elections used to be: months instead of years long, not knowing the VP until the convention.
And, in these times, the VP needs to be ready, willing and able.

*sigh*

I find it pretty funny, thise discussion about "appearing presidential." I don't really care if they appear to be a 50ft alien from Sirius, if they can show that they have a skill set that is applicable to the task at hand.

On the other hand, we sure have seen a lot of candidates recently that have the appearance down to an art, and milk it heavily, while being a bit short on the skill set side. It's like watching reality TV. You don't have to be good...you just have to look good.
