STEPHANOPOULOS: But she has no national security experience.

McCAIN: You know, the experience that she comes from is what she’s done in government, and remember, Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. It’s not as if she doesn’t understand what’s at stake here.

WHAT??? Who told her to say that? I can't believe people (including Steve Doocy are trying to say that living in Alaska gives her International Relations Experience! At least Obama's claim made SOME sense since he actually LIVED in Indonesia and has visited foreign countries.

What a s--t--r--e--t--c--h!!!

It's no stretch at all.

Alaska is the only state which shares only borders with foreign nations. The Gov. of Alaska must deal on a governmental level with neighboring countries and multi-national corporations.

Gov. Palin must be well versed in dealing for foreign countries, border issues, international waters issues, import and export issues, etc.

Obama's claim that living in Indonesia as a child and vacationing in Pakistan somehow gave him foreign policy experience is a joke and an insult to the intelligence of anybody who actually stops cheering him long enough to think about what he said.

So yes, Cindy McCain was 100% correct about Gov. Palin, and her experience dealing on a governmental level with foreign policy issues dwarfs Barry Obama's vacation to Pakistan when he was a teenager.

If anyone 'knows what's at stake' with regards to Russia, it probably is Governor Palin.

In fact, consider this: the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is home to the ballistic missile interceptor fleet that protects the US from ICBM attack. This is even leading some conservative bloggers today to ask: just what kind of security clearance does Sarah Palin actually have and exactly what kind of national security briefings does she get in that role?

I have absolutely no idea, mind you. She may not have any. But its an interesting question, given the role of that battalion and given that she presumably has a significant role in the chain of command as Commander of the Alaska National Guard.

Canada?? You are so funny, jamie! Alaska borders Canada. So does Washington, Montana, N/ Dakota and many more.

People all over are making fun of Steve Doocy and Cindy McCain for saying this. And you agree with them?

Hey, I can see into Mexico from where I stand. I have foreign policy experience!

Please read entire post:

Alaska is the only state which shares only borders with foreign nations.

Last time I checked Canada is a foreign country.
While we have border states none other are completely surrounded by foreign countries.

People making fun of Cindy McCain over this is no reflection on Cindy McCain, but a reflection on their own ignorance.

Do you even understand what a Governor does?

Alaska borders Russia and Canada, two foreign countries. The Governor is responsible for all things relating to these border issues, both land and sea.

Alaska is the only state that ONLY borders foreign countries. I.e., it has no border with another U.S. state. Gov. Palin by her position is required daily to be involved with issues relating to U.S./Canadian/Russian border issues.

Neither you with your view into Mexico nor Obama have any similar experience. Citing other ignoramuses making jokes about this as your source of information pretty much explains the quality, or lack thereof, of your observations.

This isnt 'experience'.

Experience is having spoken to high level leaders from around the globe, presidents and prime ministers, even leaders of serpartist movements.

Joe Biden has met all of the above types ... and will do so again to ensure the wrong idea is not conveyed. Currently, when we do something and it presents and image of something different and more aggressive/dangerous, Bush makes no explanation to the alarmed parties. With Joe Biden in the VP slot, we can rest easy knowing that there will be little to no misunderstandings over petty international issues -- such as the one of Georgia.

Yes, she was absolutely 100% correct. For someone to try to claim that Palin doesn't have that experience - well - that's rather shortsighted or just wishful thinking. She has more executive experience and more substantial international experience then Obama. She's more qualified to be POTUS then Obama as well.

First of all, look who is saying this. I'm seriously impressed that she manages to get through responses without saying "and world peace". She's a rich blonde trophy wife who hasn't got a clue about anything other than apparently keeping track of how many houses she has. (I assume she could have answered the question had it been asked to her, but I'm not swearing she could.)

Second, she probably feels some kind of ya-ya sisterhood of ex-aging beauty queens with Palin, so she has to stand up for her sistah! Give her a break.

Basically, I don't give a flying frappacino what Cindy has to say about anything. She's so fake it freaks me out to look at her.

I fully agree with you.
But in this case, she managed to get something right.

Palin has as much foriegn relations experience as the average American.

She's probably visited a few times and mingled a lot

thats about it.

To suggest that the Gov. of Alaska has ties with Russia is simply hysterical

its beyond a stretch

its a pathetically desperate attempt to find SOMETHING good about the woman

nothing good exists

so?

Lets do the typical conservative argument

make *snip* up

stupid people will believe it (and unfortunately....most of them do
)

Oh, I see what she means been so close to Russia's borders make it easier to swap cookie recipes with the Russian's matrons.

Yes that could be the best experience for Palin after all.

It is big joke actually.

So what exactly is Obama's foreign policy experience again?

Oh yeah, he spoke in front of 200,000 people at a rock concert in Germany.

I never saw it this way but thanks for pointing that one out.

I think people will start looking at Palin under a different light when she gets the Jackelyn Kennedy makeover she may actually look like her.

Her foreign experience or lack off will be forgotten.

LOLZ

Whats even more hysterical is the one you support had tons of FP experience at his fingertips, as the chair person of a foriegn relations committee connected to NATO, but did nothing with the oppurtunity.

This is pretty funny! Fox News are "reporting" the same thing (that being the governor of Alaska somehow equals foreign policy experience)

It was on the Daily Show a few days ago:
www.thedailyshow.com...

About two minutes in.

They also show the bit where she's waiting for someone to tell her exactly what it is a vp does all day

So Joe Biden has met more world leaders, So what? Does it mean they like Him?

Biden has that gravelly voice hard ass kind of thing about him, he kind of reminds me of an American Hugo Chaves

(not in looks lol)

But in that socialist, go before the workers in a blue collar outfit have a pair of big hands like your one of them and promises the masses of the poor alot of crap in exchange for their loyalty kind of way

He reminds me of union guys I knew in NY, and I get along with them... but they are seriously tough sons's of b's

I don't know that we can look at Party affiliation in terms of which part is the "war party" this time...

and me... I want war over and America to regroup.

Biden is a self proclaimed "Zionist" and I'm a Jew and I say, No, no, no Isreal needs to calm down if it wants to survive.

Obama is a Kennedy emulator, he'd be making Cuban Missile crisis decisions in this situation but in...Russias yard, that's a next to impossible fight

Palin and McCain are, the ess likely to flare things up, he has been to war, he might be Republican but he will have less likelyhood of wanting to create unwinnable situations for the troops and be aware of that reality, she has a son in Iraq who could die...

The Democrats are the war Hawkd on this round I think... we shouldn't be fooled

and in terms of foreign policy and knowing world leaders, I have a senior white house official in my family, I went to HS with a ton of students who's parents were in the UN because I was in a special HS in NY, so I knew all sorts of dignitaries growing up, at least... lol said hi to them and talked for a few minutes before sneaking off to smoke weed with their sons and daughters

Does that make me qualified? No!!!!

Who syas anyone likes this guy? Whats wrong with a fresh face? particulalrly one that you can look at.

Something about the way I saw Biden raise his fist in triumph gave me a chill of Socialism in a major way, his expression, his grimmace his fist, his "with the people manner"

This guy will be a tough talking ahrd ass the whole time and...

if we want this to stop and have a normal decade and recover our economy we don't need some American versions of Chavez getting all the people who WEREN't behind war into it

BH, foreign policy experience doesn't equate to National Security experience anyway.

National Security is about not giving away your most sensitive technologies to enemy militaries. The Clinton administration gave enough restricted techs to China for every other administration combined. Now, we'll be facing long-term National Security problems because of the Clinton administration's foreign polcies. We are starting to see these blunders now with China's "peaceful rise" and the new Russian Bear. You can thank Clinton for both.

We gave China satellite encryption, radar jamming, missle guidance chips, super computers, Nuclear specs etc., all during the Clinton administration.

Also, the trade-deficit with Walmart is over 220 Billion in Chinese favor. They used alot of that 220 Billion to buy Russian weapons, thus reviving Russia's economy.

Guess what Obama wants to do with China and Russia? Give them even more money and continue with the current trade policies!! He even voted against strengthening Laws that would prohibit unfair trade practices. The same unfair trade practices that has earned China in excess of 220 Billion (on top of what they're getting anyway).

Obama also wants to significantly reduce our military capabilites, leaving us literally defenseless against any attacks.

People will take that comment either way depending upon which stance they already have.

But, If you know alot of world leaders, you are already typecast, profiled and there is a strategy in place to deal with you.

Palin is ALOT more charming than Biden...

and unlike the last administration she will be traveling all over to talk to people, unlike Cheeny who was kept locked in Mt Weather with his Copy of Civilization 4 for the last 8 years

You can spend your whole life talking and, it still doesn't mean your not a D1@k

Given our world standing... Palins charm vs Bidens beast batman voice and gripping handshake on first meetings with other world leaders... I can assume who will be more well liked.

People that meet Palin Love her, Bidens a hard ass...

and we have had quite enough hard ass for right now...
