Why did the older generation feel like it's okay to lie to children?

I guess my question is, do most kids feel this way after they've grown up?

My question is do they even recognize why they don't trust women... or don't trust men... or have trouble believing their friends? I don't think people are going around pissed at their parents because of the liar they are. No. I don't think it's even a conscious thing. We, as children, make excuses for what our parents do. Again, not consciously.

I'm not saying adults hate their parents because of the lies they told. They just have trust issues, or they lie and make excuses for it... Or some other acting out of being betrayed.

Do some of you really think parents lying to kids about Santa would land them in therapy as an adult? I think that sounds really extreme.

It's just one of a thousand things parents do that make life really hard for their kids. The Santa lie isn't THE ONE thing that makes messed up adults. It's one of a thousand things.
