Local Man: Zodiac Killer Was My Stepfather
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― The Zodiac Killer attacked at least eight people, terrorizing the Bay Area and taunting police in the 60's and 70's. Thursday, the FBI confirmed to CBS13 they are now running laboratory tests on some items that may link a suspect to the killer.

The evidence was given to the FBI by a man who also claims he recently found the disguise worn by the Zodiac Killer during one of his attacks.

I don't know what to think of this, my first guess was his stepdad was having some fun from beyond the grave. But the FBI seems to find it credible enough to do some lab testing on this "evidence".

Can't wait till we get the results of those. After all Arthur Leigh Allen was never charged and most testing ruled him out as a suspect. Check the wiki link.

I really hope this turns out to be something of substance, I think most people would love to know the identity of the Zodiac once and for all.

Be good for the victims families to finally be able to put this to rest too.

Yeah, the handwriting on the note held up in the video looked (non-expert and folk reckoning) just like the Zodiac note writing to me.
Plus stepfathers are a likely evil pool to draw from. Like in Hamlet.

I think it's a fat pantload, just a publicity seekers fun.

My father was largely involved with the investigations at the time of the murders, and I have a rather large file of interesting things about the Zodiac case. Not all the facts are known to the public, plenty of theories and there are some named individuals of interest listed due to, in my opinion overwhelming coincidence.

I got a hunch that the supposed evidence that is being reviewed will turn out to be inconclusive.

Guess we'll see eh?

Great job linking us to this story! I still lean towards Arthur Leigh allen even though, as you pointed out, a lot of things that were supposed to incriminate Mr.Allen actually seemed to do otherwise. I'll keep an eye on this to see if any MSM reports the findings of the foresnsic testing or if it's just swept under the rug.

Yeah I agree. I'm reserving judgement for now because like I said, I'm sort of a believer in the Arthur Leigh Allen theory. It's simply the best thing that fit so far, as far as I'm concerned. But this is certainly worth following anyways. Well done sn00daard. And good link jwstarry.

Fascinating. The Zodiac case is an incredible journey into the mind of someone. The details presented are very compelling and hopefully FBI testing provides an answer. Something in my gut tells me this is the real deal and that this may be solved.

Arthur Leigh Allen's DNA was ruled out in 2002 so as much as the movie attempts to portray Leigh as the killer I think science says otherwise.

A while back i went into great detail and created this thread "The Zodiac Killer: Cracking The Codes of A Madman.", and as my conclusion showed, i believe it was Arthur Leigh Allen.

I have read so many differing opinions about this case that I have come to the conclusion that, just like the Black Dalia", no one will be confirmed as the Zodiac killer. It will be another case that will go down in infamy as unsolved. Much forensic evidence that now would have been taken never was because it wasn't the usual proceedure till very recent times. Proof will remain elusive. I would love to see it solved only because I remember the terror this person caused and the finality that the families still need.

One day this case will be solved, I bet nobody ever in their wildest dreams thought that BTK or the Green River Killer would ever be caught but both cases were solved, yeah it took decades of hard work and pure luck but I am confident that it can and will be done.

That being said my question is why did he stop killing after 1969? Did he die? Did he get sent to Vietnam/was he in the military? Was he sent off to prison or a mental hospital? So many unanswered questions ...

What do you think about the fact
- that he passed a polygraph,
- that his fingerprints did not match any prints they recovered from the scenes or letters(after multiple test by various experts from different agencies),
- that his DNA did not match that from the stamps
- and that his handwriting was no match according to a California handwriting analysts?

I have all that from this site:

In the footnotes you can see the sources, I have not checked those but they don't seem suspicious at least.
I'de love to hear your take on it since you obviously know a lot about the matter.

The problem with every "suspect" is that they never have enough to go on. Some suspects will have one part, and another will fit another part, but nobody has been even close to conclusive.

The movie Zodiac, while good, should not be used as proof for Allen, which it tries to do.

Who do I think it was? Somebody in control of information, be it police or media, this guy was involved in some aspect like that.
