At 8800 Feet the length of the extended new runway at Flagstaff isn't long at all for a 747 whose safe runway length is around 10K'.
The altitude @ 7000' ASL has a lot to do with why the existing 7100' runway air traffic is limited to turbo props and the additional 1800' would
permit "regional jets" spelled MD-80 and 737 traffic and not intercontinental jets such as a 747-200.
In comparison...
Air Force One is based out of Andrews AFB in MD and near sea level it's two runways are both over 11,000 feet long @ 11,300' and 11,700'.
On second thought, perhaps you're right about McCain winning.
Perhaps he'd wear his A-1 flight jacket and fly Air Force One into Flagstaff himself..if anyone could crash land a plane there it would be McCain ,
he has a history of having survived 5 !
