Swiss exonerate Europe's last executed witch

A woman beheaded after she was accused of causing a girl to spit pins and convulse was exonerated Wednesday, more than 200 years after she
became the last person executed as a witch in Europe.
The decision to clear Anna Goeldi's name came after long debate in the eastern Swiss state of Glarus, and was taken in consultation with the
Protestant and Roman Catholic churches.
Several thousand people, mainly women, were executed for witchcraft between the 14th and 18th centuries in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe. Yet
Goeldi's trial and beheading in the village of Mollis took place at a time when witch trials had largely disappeared from the continent.

Witch executions were a way to eliminate destitute, homeless or just generally troublesome women in those benighted times. Goeldi's mistake was
evidently that she had an unwise affair with her employer.
It's too little too late, but it's good to see the churches admitting their wrongs.

as a pagan i can say that this is a great day the inquisition and witch hunts of the burning times were a very sad time in human history. i always
thought it was a lil ironic that the christians were killed, tourterd and out cast for their belifes then as soon as they became a majority they did
the same to pagans, and lets face a lot of people who werent even pagan or shamanistic in any way .

Just in time for the next act of genocide.
We keep treating the symptoms, but we never seem to go after it's cause.
