Yesterday the popular Discovery Channel show Mythbusters did a special to see if the Moon Landing was all a hoax. They took popular conspiracy
theories, and proved each and every one wrong!
A short list of myths that where busted:
Niel Armstrong's walking motion-People think that the camera was just slowed down to provide the low gravity simulation. Adam Savaged got suited up
and tried the jumping and walking that Niel did on the moon. First in an air hanger with a cable attached to him so he could jump higher. Although
he could get the skipping and walking, it just didn't look natural and his helmet was bouncing around. They then went in one of those planes where
you can get 0gs and made it so it was only 1/6g. They tried the motions again and they where perfectly natural.
Flag fluttering-Here conspiracy theorists think that the flag couldn't have fluttered like it did in the video because of the vacuum of space. Well
the Mythbusters team went to a vacuum chamber (one at NASA no doubt) and put a replica of the space flag in the chamber. Once the vacuum was created
they moved it around as if the guys where planting it in the moon's surface. With no air resistance, the flag swayed back and forth for a while
after the flag was moved around.
Proof of man made objects on the moon-While the astronauts where up on the moon, they placed reflectors on the surface so scientists could shoot
lasers up there. The lasers would reflect back to earth and we would get data on the moons surface. The team went to one of these big lasers and
shot a laser at one of these reflectors. Sure enough, they got a few photons of a reflection back. They shot at an area without a reflector, and
just got back background light.
So there you have it, undeniable proof that NASA did put human beings on the moon! Take that conspiracy theorists!
