So what in god's name is wrong with calling him a "black boy"? It would seem that "boy" is the bigger insult.

BECAUSE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, it is a racial slur for a white person to acknowledge that another person is black.

As much as I wish Jimmy Carter had meant this in a deragatory way - he didn't. When taken in context any honest person will have to allow that Jimmy Carter was talking about a boy, ie:, a young man, who just so happened to be "black" - who grew up and has now been nominated for the Democrat Presidential Candidate.

To read anything more into it is - in my opinion - to degrade the credibility of the person complaining about it rather than degrade the credibility of Jimmy Carter... who, I repeat, I can't stand.

If you come up with something against mister Carter at least let the accusation have balls.

The one thing that is disturbing is that more Black Americans don't "get it" and are so overjoyed by the promise of a Black President they aren't stopping to question... "Why exactly is the establishment pushing this brother so hard and fast"

He seems to be talking about Obama as a youth growing into a man that is now possibly our next president. I don't see anything wrong with the statement made in the video. Carter comes from a time when people of different colors couldn't take a crap on the same toilet let alone the same ballot.

Jimmy Carter is in his 80`s , they are all whippersnappers to him.

My 92 year old Grandmother use to call a neighbour of ours " the young girl of the Murphy`s"...............that young girl was in her 60`s .

I think the word is appropriate in this context because of the generation gap.
Sometimes people read to much in to the meaning of vernacular it isn't always perfect you know.

Carter has had a lifetime of being on tv, he knows what the correct edict is.

Ah come on now! Without having read a single comment, Jimmy did not say it in a derogatory way, he was talking about a little black boy, raised with a loving Mother.

Jimmy did not mean like the black statue on the lawn kind of black boy.

If we are going to have a black president then get over it, get over any of the forth coming comments. I am sick to death of the black person oppression crap.

They can call each other 'n-word', but if you are white, its bad. If they call us whitey, its bad but if one whitey calls another whitey, they live in the south.

People are people and we are all repressed and part of the minority, except for the wealthy and they have always been the true minority.

Very early on I thought the very same thing, however I think that Obama has an out. Because not only would a Black presidnt take the fall so would the Democrats in a way that could destroy the party for years to come.

Now old Jimmy Carter is possibly one of the most inteligent men to hold the office in the past 100 years or more. He really does have a high IQ and an honest caring heart. When he dealt with the hostage crisis he took hard personally and he really aged about 10-20 years during that time. I would say he is keenly aware of what Obama is about to face and will offer him his experience of "being there" should Obama be wise enough to accept it.

You see, when Carter was in office, I didn't care for him AT ALL. But since then, I have studied him. I even had the fortune of running into a nephew of his a couple years ago before Christmas and we talked at length about Jimmy as a person and his presidency for a few hours. I learned quite a lot about the man and gained much respect and insight though I remain oppossed to a number of things he did.

I, myself, thought about running in this one at one point. On the grounds of taking back America for Americans and away from the coruption of the political machine/beast that is running us into the ground now. I may head that call in 2012, then again might not have that option then either. One of the things that kept me out of it was my age. Had I done it this year and won, I would have been the youngest to hold the office, taking the oath just three weeks after turning 38. The mess that Obama (should he be elected) would have been my mess. The blame game would keep this nation far out of the hands of the People and in the career politicians forever should the events coming been overwelmingly out of my ability to control, spin or deflect to those truely responsible for them.

Obama has a few outs to keep his image clean through all of this. One of them is one that I don't believe he would want to happen, which is assassination. Early enough in his administration, it would void any mistake made. Late enough in the term, it would protect the party's reputation and be a political rallying point. Should it happen to pass, we must all be very keenly aware of what is going on around us, the event itself and the outcomes of the aftermath.

Obama does have a few other outs as well. Should he be elected it will be interesting to see if they will be used. I admit that I have not observed his integrity as a man to tell if he will indeed try to be all business (and of what type) or he will just kick back with his feet on the desk and glad hand his way through much like the way the campaign has been ran. So far, I admit he is very smooth when on script. But I have seen him stammer and faulter when talking off the cuff. Plans are great when they work, but the office requires a lot of on your feet and sat of your pants thinking and actions as well. This could become a very long four years.

Is this moron still around? Has he no shame, in showing is face?

How can anything the worst President in US history, that's counting with GWB, and the worst leader the western word as ever had the displeasure of knowing, be taken into account???

Does the media still acknowledge the existence of this idiot? Why doesn't he just disappear, in one of his peanut farms, or on some peanut country?

Carter is nuts....But he is not a racist. Trust me, I have met the man 2 times and each time he was with or eating with a "minority". He has given several speeches at our local colleges and eats at the Chinese place we always go...Weird but true.

Man, anyone these days with light skin is called racist if they mention anyone's race or color.

This is what has happened to our society. Political correctness has all but ruined our ability to communicate in public. I actually had someone whisper the word "black" to me in a conversation the other day when refering to a black person. I guess if you don't want to conform to the masses and say "african american" when the person in question has less to do with Africa than I do, you are in fear of being chastized by the PC police. Its basically the left wing's chickens coming home to roost. They have used PC for years as a tool to attack Republicans/white people, but now that its being used against them, they don't like it.
