So what does a modern day conservative do in this up coming election?

Considering that none of the names running are what anyone would classify as conservative.

I would classify myself as a Libertarian on most issues, more or less a moderate conservative. I think if you take the two extreme parties and borrow the good points while leaving the bad points from each you will end up with a Libertarian, conservative on many issues yet a bit liberal on others.

I feel like a spectator with no horse in the race, none of them really appeal to me. At least none of the two who stand to actually win.

Still I think Romney would be Mccain's best bet considering he knows economics and business, Mccain is strong on experience and foreign policy but I get the impression he is clueless in regard to the economy, which I feel is the biggest and most important issue in this election.
