Interpol Internet roll-out nears completion

Most of Asia and the Middle East will be linked by the end of the year to a 24-hour Internet computer network that will allow access to vital data that can be used to track fugitives and block terror attacks.

Interpol officials say only 16 of the more than 40 Interpol member countries are yet to be connected to the "I-24/7" network.

I-24/7 stands for an Internet system that is operable 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The I-24/7 system would allow Interpol member countries access to various databases, including photographs, fingerprints, DNA data, records on stolen vehicles and travel documents.
