Hi Everyone,

I made this thread in response to the large amount of threads I have seen recently regarding Police Brutality.

Simply put.... What the hell is going on?!?!

The number of stories regarding police brutality I have read recently is as shocking as it is disgusting.

I saw a thread recently about police officers in the US tasering a 16 year old boy who had a broken back and could not move. What were these officers thinking? Apparently the boy was shouting obscenities at the officers, well even if that was the case that in NO way justifies the officers behaivour.

These are the people who are supposed to protect us and make us feel safe... yeah right, I'm starting to think that we have more to be worried about from rogue police officers abusing innocent civilians than we do from anyone else.

What are we training these individuals? It's absolutely ridiculous and I can't believe that in this day and age police brutality still occurs.

In my oppinion anyone abusing their power of authority to deliberately attack or injure an innocent civilian should be severely punished and lose their job. How can you have police officers who attack, pepper spray, or taser innocent people?!?

The world has truly gone mad people....

I agree, I can take care of my self without the help of an Officer.

Cops are an all-together waste of time.

But that is my opinion.

There are good police forces around the world - don't judge all cops by the actions of a few American cops who have inferiority complexes.

Also look at the hiring practices for many US police forces - I think you'll find your answer right there. Not to mention the lack of effective civilian oversight, which is essential in any police force - without it, cops are very reluctant to punish their own.

Luckily the rest of the world doesn't follow the US's example.

Americans are not lesser beings. We are of all people. So calling us dumb is essentially calling yourself dumb.

As to brutality, it's nothing new. The world is just smaller now and so more is seen. The fear of being caught should refrain many of them.

Sometimes, Big brother watching you is a good thing.

I wasn't specifically attacking US police officers, it was just one of the more shocking stories I have heard recently. I'm sure that theres cops in other parts of the world that behave ALOT worse than the mentioned example, only we never hear about them.

The world is smaller?

Well I think there is or has been a definite increase in police brutality the past couple of years. I just find it incredible that someone could be capable of abusing a position of authority like that.

It actually sickens me, more so than child abuse or rape, these people are supposed to be PROTECTING us!

I'm not too keen on Big Brother, but yeah maybe your right, sometimes it might be a good thing.

Put it this way. As more cops get arrested for abuse, those that know them will resist the temptation of abusing their position.

Video's online will kill any attempt to abuse power.

Through the great vine, the message will spread.

We live in a hole filled planet now. NOTHING isn't seen. This will m ake people ease up on their actions and fearing to be caught, they will stop their actions.

Although cop brutality seems to be increasing, it's not. Mainly it's because the news shows it alot and youtube opens up all kind of variables.

The fact is that all crimes are decreasing and it's because of Big brother's watchful eye.

luckily, that eye is connected to ours, and we see what he sees.

While I would NEVER condone this type of activity from a cop, the sad thruth is, a lot of it stems from the apathy of the american civillian.

Cops are beating someone? He must have done something to deserve it. Cop tazing a kid? Not my buisness. Cop breaking every traffic law without lights on? No biggie, he must have to be somewhere.

If the average american would step up, start documen ting and calling our law enforcement out, we could put a stop to a very large percentage of it. Unfortunately, we're all too busy with our latte's and ipods.

This is so ignorant my jaw actually dropped. You WELCOME the loss of your rights to big brother? Amazing.

Police officers of today are no longer taught to protect and serve.

They are being trained to be the stormtroopers for the federal government and for the wealthy few. After all, if you are going to be stripping away rights and declaring martial law on a society of people, you have to have the hired muscle to enforce the corrupt & crooked policy.

They do it under the guise of upholding the "law" yet it is done so at the barrell of a loaded gun.

The Nazis had the Gestapo, Saddaam Hussein had the Republican Guard, and the US government has the good old boys in blue....making sure that you do what you are told or else!!

How do you lose rights? People deserve the right to privacy when it comes to abuse, corruption, and harm???

I'd rather this kind of semi-socialist way.

As I've always said, just because big brother is watching, doesn't mean he cares. But judging from our society, he's more then happy to share what he sees.

This is ignorant. Cops are you. Normal citizens who decide to work to serve. They'd probably be the first to resist stealing your rights.

So many are quick to claim a military dictatorship is on it's way, but the common fallacy is that most generals are for the republic. Most generals would deny orders to "round up" civilians. And judging from polls, most generals hate the government just as you and I.

So you are okay with your phone being tapped in the name of corruption (when ironically, the wiretapping IS the corruption)? You're okay with every thing you do on a computer being monitored?

America is the land of the free, and you are to be considered innocent until proven guilty. If you are being searched and monitored with no just cause, how is this not the loss of your rights?

History has proven, time and time again, that a big brother system will only lead to chaos.

You claim they wouldn't round up citizens, yet they have done exactly that, in foreign countries and here at home. Renditions, gitmo, not to mention the dozens of "undisclosed locations" where "enemy combatants" are held indefinitely without trial.

I wish I could live in a bubble gum, sunshine and compassion world like you do. Unfortunately, this is reality.

You are corrupting my words. I said soccially monitored, in that it's in the public domain, not hidden.

besides, I'm pretty sure anyone monitoring the phones are smart enough to know the difference between joking about assassinating the president, and actually plotting to do it. if you don't have any any plots to kill people, you're perfectly fine.

And monitoring the internet is already don. The government has the right to cut your internet if you send out viruses.

They don't cut websites like these though. And that's because they don't care to infringe on free speech in the public domain.

has anyone ever reported black vans taking internet posters?

Trust me, it's pretty clear when you get raided. The entire neighborhood knows.

Sure there's been a few mistakes, but few.

Some of them may be decent people and intending to serve the public when they first enter the profession, but they end up mirroring the menatillity that exists among the veteran police, and that mentallity is US against THEM.

I have seen cases of out of control cops and I live in the south so I know a thing or two about crooked law enforcement. They will kick your ass and make it look like you brought it on yourself. They plant drugs, they tamper with evidence, and if you insult one they will make your life a living hell.

Take a look at what happened during hurrican Katrina. That is the future face of law enforcement here in America. Disarm the public, protect the wealthy and beat and shoot whoever you need to defend the ones who sign your pay check. Period.

Well I live in New York. Most cops are nice people who really don't care to corrupt. I saw one standing in front of an obvious illegal market. He looked, staired, and walked away.

As to your cops, the solution is simple. Increase the eye of big brother. Put cameras on all badges and all arrests mandated to show video footage of the events. If the camera is obstructed, give it to a judge (as the audio will still be there). He'll decide if it's worth anything.

Or maybe because they could use sites such as this to their own advantage by spreading disinformation through them?

Just a thought

Here ya go, this man lived in my neighborhood:
www.katu.com...
It happens more than you think, and I have MET< IN PERSON, the actual living proof that it does happen. And just ONE innocent man held against his will, with no crime commited or trial to declare his innocence, is too many.
Paranoia? Once again, can I come live in your bubble gum world?

You're pretty sure they know the difference? Are you kidding? There is no difference in their eyes. A threat is a threat is a threat, no matter if it says "i'm gonna slap him so hard with my $%^& that it kills him. Heres another one for ya:

www.msnbc.msn.com...

Frankly, my friend, you are the problem. You are exactly who I described in my previous post. You stand by, thinking that everyone who gets this deserves it, and call those who act on these things paranoid.
Hope you enjoy your police state.

Yes I know, that's a good conspiracy. But the fact is that it's worthless and not worth the price. You do it so well on your own...

If they were THAT interested in stopping free speech and the likes, youtube would be better monitored.

The simple fallacy people have is that they want us as slaves, labor, cattle, etc etc.

I say this. It isn't the 1850s anymore. Any labor man can do, a machine can. Slaves are not profitable, as they have always been a bigger strain on profits then hired labor, and not to mention they can't make money off of poverty because they can't buy things if they're poor.
