Just to make a point...
I don't know why anyone thinks this election is so important.
Both candidates were picked by the same people.
Two names, one game...

This is perhaps the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone ever say on ATS, which is a pretty damning statements. Let's compare a guy that fought for his country and almost died to a guy who never accomplished anything in his life and willingly befriended an America-hating terrorist throughout his entire life. How are they even on the same level? You should be ashamed of yourself. You've shown your true colors and hatred towards this nation with a statement like that. That's disgusting.

McCain and Obama are both sleaze balls like most politicians, which makes voting painful. Unfortunately the wing-nuts are slightly less insane than the socialist loons. I can't in good conscience not vote, so McCain it is.

You're joking right? You must be joking, because that doesn't even rate. Type "indigo" into the search box and read what floats to the top....

I keed, I keed! Couldn't resist.

okay, just so I can be "on topic", a) video smells like right wing propaganda (hell it even claims it at the end) and b) Obama should pick better friends.
There. I'm right in the middle. Even Steven.

To plant and detonate bombs?? And injure and kill innocent people? Uh, let me think .... NO!

Agreed Sos. The bombings were deplorable, but for the sake of accuracy...Wikipedia: no one was ever harmed in the extensive bombing campaign, as WUO issued warnings in advance to ensure a safe evacuation of the area prior to detonation

Bottom line is that the ad is asking us to believe since Obama knows the man...he is the man...

The Ayers that Obama met is a professor at the university of chicago and was hand picked by Mayor Dailey to help reform the schools. He was a community organizer like Obama and involved in multiple charities.

I seriously doubt that Obama was aware this man was setting bombs while Obama was 8 years old. How many of you knew who Ayers was prior to this contorversy?

Obama knows Ayers...Ayers used to be a radical 60's bomber....so Obama MUST be a Terrorist.

Even Obama detractors have to feel offended by the logic.

THE PEOPLE WHO PAID FOR AND RAN THIS AD THINK YOU, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE STUPID AND EASILY MANIPULATED.

In Obama's answer to this question below he states "I THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SMARTER THAN THAT"

He might change his mind if he read some of these posts.

By the way Obama calls the acts of Ayers in the 60's "Detestable", but who really cares about what Obama REALLY thinks, its all about what you can make the american people BELIEVE he thinks.

TRANSCRIPT:

Can you explain that relationship for the voters and explain to Democrats why it won't be a problem?
OBAMA: George, but this is an example of what I'm talking about. This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.
And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense, George.
The fact is that I'm also friendly with Tom Coburn, one of the most conservative Republicans in the United States Senate, who, during his campaign, once said that it might be appropriate to apply the death penalty to those who carried out abortions.
Do I need to apologize for Mr. Coburn's statements? Because I certainly don't agree with those, either.
So this kind of game in which anybody who I know, regardless of how flimsy the relationship is, that somehow their ideas could be attributed to me, I think the American people are smarter than that. They're not going to suggest somehow that that is reflective of my views, because it obviously isn't.

I don't think that's what it's saying at all. What it's saying is:

-----------

Here's a man who Obama is friends with. (Note: This is still the one part of the ad that I'm not sure is true. I haven't seen proof that these two are friends.)

This man was co-founder of an organization that bombed the pentagon, the capital building, and many police stations. Other members of this group went on to murder police officers.

Did you know Obama was friends with people like this? What else don't you know?

-------------

That's the commercial. Regardless, you have to admit that Obama has some strange acquaintances. I agree with other posters earlier in the thread, I'm really confused as to why Ayers isn't in prison since he admitted that he participated in the bombings of many government facilities.

Well, many my age would remember him. I don't think he is relevant to this election unless Obama has a dark side that agrees with him. No way to know that.

What is most odd is that he is unapologetic. That nobody was killed means nothing. The risk was to great. A mad bomber is a professor and buddies with a man who may be the next President. Only in America

It is reported they are neighbors and their children play together. They serve together on a Board and have been at least friendly for many years. Nobody has disputed that.

Beyond that?????????????

As to Obama having "strange acquaintances".. That is politics...and more so in Chicago. If we wanted to play games at that level then McCain is equally as vulnerable, but who wins when we start taking anybody they are lossely "acquainted" with and running ads like this? Everybody loses, we are better than this.

And I think it is clear what the ad is trying to do and the associations it is making. You have to get what they are trying to get you to believe....I know you are not for Obama..and that is ok with me....but these kinds of ads shouldn't be tolerated from either camp. They insult the intelligence of the American people.

As far as being confused as to why Ayers isn't in prison...charges were dropped due to "illegal operations" by the FBI...see en.wikipedia.org...

Sadly there are enough people out there who will believe anything they are told, so he actually does have something to worry about from those people.

Exactly, like the dems being told to vote for Obama, but not why. Looks like the democrat party should have spent more time vetting their presidential candidate than they did the VP candidate. And huge strategic error by Obama to try to fight this. It would have been passed around some fringe groups, but now everyone will have a chance to hear about it and see the ad.

Also, notice how "the usual suspects" (obamaphiles) here are not really trying to refute the message, instead they're attempting to shoot the messenger or deflect the topic. In the immortal words of their saviour Bill Clinton, "this dog looks like it will hunt."

Okay...this is where the devil in me would start to research John McCain, his wife and what boards they sit on and who else sits on that board, who their neighbors are at all of their seven homes, where their children go to school, who their children play with and what those children's parents do or have done in their lives etc. etc. Look for guest lists at donor parties and social gatherings. Bust out the google maps see who is in the various neighborhoods that they might socialize with, look into Cindy McCain's business dealings find the ugliest things I can and scream John McCain is an X...see he is "friendly" with one. yada, yada, ughhh.

I am not interested in this kind of politics. No one should be. We are better than this.

John McCain called Ron Paul the "Most honest person in Washington."

Write in Ron Paul for President.

Furthermore, it was not a "left-wing" group... it was a "constitutional" group who bombed the capital. They were trying to get rid of the Nazi neocon NWO freemasons and World Banks. Wake up, people.

My zeitgeist,

My only beef with the ad is in the very beginning where it says, "What does he really believe? Consider this: United 93 never hit the capitol on 911."

I can't help but think that was an intentional manipulation to play into the anti-911 truther sentiment that's out there.

Of course United 93 never hit the capitol or anything else in Washington. But I wonder how many people confused that flight in the ad with American Airlines Flight 77?

Oh that's right. What was the message again that the "obamaphiles" aren't trying to refute?

That Obama knows Ayers? That they are Neighbors? Served on a board together where Ayers was appointed by Richard M. Dailey to help reform Chicago schools?

Is that the damning message that "obamaphiles" refuse to refute?

Ayers was part of the Weather Underground ...Obama knows Ayers...so...Obama must be what?

I am confused about the message.

Again...the American people are not that stupid, though some of the posts here would make me think otherwise.

Over a year ago, i heard of William Ayiers on ATS...

I am SO GLAD that this is going to be in an ad...

Can't trust the media to talk about this...

If people STILL want to support Obama, after they have found out all the stuff like this about him. Thats fine.

You can be a self-hating-American...

And your aloud to be...

Of course you left out the most damning part of the message - that Obama considers Ayers to be "respectable and mainstream".

Ayers was part of the Weather Underground ...Obama knows Ayers...so...Obama must be what?

How about too stupid to realize that being linked to such people and groups is not a good thing - politically or otherwise. And then showing himself to be that stupid to the American people, well there goes another bunch of IQ points. Stupidity - great presidential qualification, no?

I am confused about the message.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, you can't look to your exalted candidate to even help you out with that.

Again...the American people are not that stupid, though some of the posts here would make me think otherwise.

My sentiments exactly ...

Wait, let's turn this logic around...

McCain associates with Vietmanese Communist Torture Masters! He spent YEARS with these people! McCain spent his youth associating with men who TORTURED AMERICAN CITIZENS! HE SPENT YEARS WITH THESE MEN WHO TORTURED AMERICAN TROOPS! How dare anyone vote for a man who associated with these evil communist pigs who tortured American Men in Uniform!

Now sure he was one of them being tortured but hey, we're using Republican logic here so it works.

OMG the dems are getting desperate.

Do I need to point out to you that what you wrote would only work IF McCain volunteered to be a prisoner and be tortured as Obama has volunteered to associate with and publicly defend a known terrorist?

Or are you just trying to qualify for a cabinet position (intelligence czar?
) in the unlikely event now that Obama wins?

Definition of logic

Sorry, can't make what you posted fit any of the definitions of logic listed.

That's not true at all.
Obama DID NOT say that Ayers is respectable and mainstream. The ad is a lie. I posted a source earlier in the thread.

No one is disputing what Ayers did. That's the truth. Obama's connection to him is what's being questioned. No one has shown that they are "friends". In fact, Obama denies it and denounces what Ayers did in the past, back when Obama was riding his tricycle.
