This is a very cool video showing how the LA based band Tool (my favorite band) used the Fibonacci sequence in their song "Lateralus."

LINK:
www.youtube.com...

Though the video explains it, the basic Fibonacci sequence is this:

the next number it the result of adding the two previous numbers together.

1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34... etc...

That pattern forms a perfect spiral which is seen all throughout nature. It's seen in everything from sea shells and flowers to water going down a drain. That ratio is even seen in the human body (specifically in the lengths of the fingers and arms to each other)

I have a feeling you guys here on ATS will find it as inspiring as I have.

And just for fun here are the lyrics to the song:

Black then white are all I see in my infancy
Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, let's me see

As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
Drawn beyond the lines of reason
Push the envelope, watch it bend

Over thinking, over analyzing, separate the body from the mind
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment, drawing way outside the lines

Black then white are all I see in my infancy
Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, let's me see
There is so much more and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities

As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
Drawn outside the lines of reason
Push the envelope, watch it bend

Over thinking, over analyzing, separate the body from the mind
Withering my intuition, leaving opportunities behind

Feed my will to feel this moment
Urging me to cross the line
Reaching out to embrace the random
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come

I embrace my
Desire to
I embrace my
Desire to
Feel the rhythm, to
Feel connected
Enough to step aside and
Weep like a widow, to
Feel inspired, to
Fathom the power, to
Witness the beauty, to
Bathe in the fountain, to
Swing on the spiral, to
Swing on the spiral, to

Swing on the spiral of
Our divinity and
Still be a human

With my feet upon the ground I move myself between the sounds
And open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin
I'm reachin' up and reachin' out, I'm reachin' for the random or
Whatever will bewilder me, whatever will bewilder me
And following our will and wind, we may just go where no one's been
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been

Spiral out
Keep going
Spiral out
Keep going
Spiral out
Keep going
Spiral out!
Keep going

Very cool~ Thanks for sharing~ I have a good friend who would send me Tool songs with the lyrics and it didn't take long to understand and fall in love with the band

Ah the fibonacci spiral. Ah Tool. You'd be a fool to write them of as just another nu-metal band. They get too deep for comfort sometimes.
