Wow a fascinating thread!
Outstanding work!

I have been around ATS in a limited way in the last couple of weeks due to my move and difficulties in finding an isp to meet my needs.. Looking forward to being around more regularly so I can read more of this thread and perhaps contribute something.

My father was born in Germany during the 40s and came to the US in the 60s. He is very well read on UFOs/alternative subjects. I will ask him his take on Untersberg when I get a chance.

The following is part of a website at www.ourboros.com/untersberg2.html

It covers a few myths and legends about the Untersberg, but is in German. I will try and translate the interesting parts, but it will take some time. For those of you that speak the lingo, it is an intersting read.

"One of the Entrances?

The Iron Gate at Hallthurm

If you travel on the road from Reichenhall (= Bad reichenhall) to Berchtesgaden, you come to the Hallturm (Tower). Only the tower remains of the ruined salzburg castle, that was built in 1194.

Near this tower, so they say, is an iron entrance(?) through which you can enter the Untersberg. It is only sometmes visible, and then only for a moment........."

The site also features a story about a guy called Lazarus, who meets a monk (I am sure it has been mentioned here before), and goes on to describe a church with 12 doors, that lead to the other 12 churches in the area, including St Bartholomews (at one point, the monk says "we are under the Koenigssee".........

A lot to take in in one read, especially in German!!! But worth it.

I have also found some details of a Nazi communication centre, named NII, which i believe is located on Obersalzberg. At this location, there is a radio anomoly, where at a certain time (after 4pm), using a certain frequency, you can hear a spanish radio transmission, which apparently comes from Bolivia, and shoud be impossible to receive, due to the distance involved. There are also compass anomilies in the same area. Not exactly a time portal, but a portal of sorts........

Thanks looking forward to you're translate. Sounds very interesting

About the radio anomaly : Do you have more info about that ?
Well, i must say that even with all the Hitler info at this place it seems like a dead end to figure out what the true reason was, for him to build up a base their ?
Did he find something ?

Must say that considering about early posts of magnet anomaly in the area which also means anomaly of gravity ( less gravity=more mountain)
will mean that almost everything can be possible, cause if one believes in the rule :
Gravity is the attractive pull between any two objects.
depends on the mass of objects and the distance between them...

Now if disturbance happens with the one object or something between the two objects (consider the rule that the mass of an object will remain the same if you take it away from its normal place, but will still act different cause the control of the gravity is changed, cause of distance or of a third part)
= No "rules" of that we should ekspect of "right" or "wrong" means no compass will work either. Basically it would be as same as if left and right is turned around some kind.
Seen in that perspective it makes sence to me how strange things can happen

The first global map of magnetic peculiarities - or anomalies - on Earth has been assembled by an international team of researchers.

Magnetic anomalies are caused by differences in the magnetisation of the rocks in the Earth's crust.

BBC NEWS

link for download as PDF
After removal of the dipole field anomalies, the variations in the field (few hundreds of nT) are due to changes in the magnetic properties of the crustal rocks themselves.

Hot colours (reds) indicate high values; cold colours (blues) indicate low or negative values of the magnetic field strength.

This is from an article " Grace in Space "
Discovermagazine i find very interesting :

That’s exactly what GRACE, the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment, detects. Every 94 minutes or so, twin satellites whip once around Earth at an altitude of 310 miles, taking 30 days to cover the planet’s entire surface, then they do it again and again, sensing variations in local gravity. GRACE maps local variations in the force of gravity over Earth’s surface, revealing mountain ranges and ocean trenches as well as underground watersheds and other hidden concentrations of mass. A joint venture by NASA and the DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, or German Aerospace Center), GRACE looks right past the familiar oceans, continents, and clouds, showing our planet in a fresh light—as a knobby, blobby globe of gravitational ups and downs.

The link to the piece regarding NII and the radio anomoly is www.alpenfestung.com/n2e.htm (again in german).

The site also features a section on Untersberg (alpenfestung.com/untersberg.htm).

The piece regarding the radio anomoly also contains a lot of information about positive and negative polarity lines in the area, which i haven't quite got my head around yet, and i think suggests that in some cases the energy created in areas like this can be focused, like a lens (there is a diagram of a arrasngement of stone in the Pi shsape, and a small hill, or tumulus. Like i say, i haven't really made much sense of it all yet (again, in german!).

The NII building (or the ruins, thereof), are still in existence, i believe, although i have not seen them indicated on any layouts of the Nazi buildings i have come across, but the alpenfestung. com site has a couple of pictures. Interestingly, at the very bottom of the page, there is mention of another topis, described as the "Berg-Berghof-Berg Linie" ("Mountain - Hitlers House - Mountain Line". I do not know what this is, and can find no link to it, but it sounds intriguing....!

I think Hitler chose Obersalzberg for a number of reasons, in fact he is quoted as saying that it was not by chance that he had his seat of power there. Undoubtedly, the Untersberg played a large part in his decision. He was well aware of the mythology surrounding the mountain, and the legend of Charlemagne, or Kaiser Karl, rising from the mountain to save the German people. It is also not far from his place of birth, Braunau in Austria, and of course from the Berghof you can see across to the Untersberg and into Austria itself. Perhaps Hitler viewed himself as the representation of Kaiser Karl, rising from (near) the Untersberg and saving the German "Volk"? The whole Nazi ideaology was built largely on iconography from the past, etc, and was cleverly manipulated by the likes of Goebbels to appeal the the German people, who needed something to believe in after the defeat of WW1 and the economic situation in the post war period. He was also, of course, involved with the "Thule Society" which spawned Nazi offshoots (notably the SS) when swept up in the National Socialist machine, and in my opinion, undoubtedly, there was some other reason that the Obersalzberg was important to the Nazis, I believe this is also linked to everything we are discussing here, specifically the mountain.

One more thing - I never quite understood why the Nazis fled to South America at the end of the war?! I assumed it was due to the fascist dictatorship connection (amongst friends), but then this radio anomoly coming from Bolivia is now making me think perhaps there is some other link. I believe a few Nazis have been found in Bolivia......

according to the mystery mountain there is an other important local phenomenon called the "eyes of the sun". in the whole alpine region exist so called rockholes, through which are coming sunrays in a special time in the year. the place where the throughcoming rays arrived are most holy places, which has been in former times places of celebration and observation (astronomy) like stonehenge.
on some places you can find nowadays christian churches (for example the alpine village called elm in suisse or st. lorenz at the mondsee in austria).
such a place you can also find at the bottom of untersberg (westside).
see my websites:
www.kraftort.org...
www.alpenschamanismus.de...

and here a picture of this phenomenon:

the amazing experience of the suneye called "teufelsloch" is that the time where you can see this on the bottom of untersberg is exactly the solstice of winter.
the alpine ancestors has no reason to build a construction like stonehenge. they only have to observe the suneye in the mountains in opposite of untersberg called "lattengebirge".
these alpine suneyes describes impressively the connection of heaven and earth.
we can learn much about the signs of nature. we need no tempels.

the "stone of untersberg" is standing in the "marienheilgarten" - a famous place of healing, strenth and energy at the bottom of the untersberg in a village called großgmain.
most interesting is the meaning and importance of this stone (menhir).
the priest argues that this stone is sending out 14 rays.
the rays define a circle and so 14 energy-points. this points are marked with small stones.
the stonecircle is just new formed and i have taken a new foto. i will set the foto on my website.

in this thread you will found the advice of 12 churches - i say 12 holy places round the untersberg. (the myth of lazarus aigner)
there are now hints to 14 not 12 places like the myth tells us.
in a book i found already the 13th place. but the 14th place is still missing.

picture here:

White Eagle - (Entschuldigung! Ganz einfacher fuer mich auf Englisch zu schreiben!) We have previously talked here about the possibility of there being tunnels not only within the Untersberg, or those created by the Nazis on Obersalzberg, but also, for example, between St Bartholomews church on the Koenigssee, and the mountain.

With your information here, regarding the stones and the 14 rays, do you think that the "connection" between these places (the 13 churches), is possibly in relation to these "rays", rather than the tunnels? Are the "tunnels" actually the "rays" of energy?

As the stories of such tunnels have passed down through the ages, perhaps "connection" has been misinterpreted at some point to mean a physical connection, rather than a spiritual / energy connection.

I didn't remember until now when I saw it in the recent posts, but I just wanted to say that this thread is the one that originally prompted me to sign up for ATS. So thanks for that OP!

Sorry for the slightly off topic.

i think this is a possible explanation.
in my opinion there are no physical "tunnels" but rather energy-connections.
i habe begun to describe and to explore the 12 (or 14?) lines - such as leylines. take only the line between untersberg and "maria kirchental":
www.untersberg.org...
there are 9 points of energy and power such as special caves, springs and petroglyphs in grand altitudes. this line is apparently a leyline.
i think, the other lines are also leylines.

just a small point about Adolph. He didnt actually like the Eagles Nest much at all. He was afraid of heights, and visited very infrequently. Second, the Eagles nest was built over the top of an existing residence. Haus Wachenfeld, which was originally built for a Banker named Winter.

One does wonder why a man who hates heights purchases a house perched on a mountain and then has it turned into a fortress with a secret tunnel complex under it, this may well be the motivation behind the purchase..... As to the tunnels and fortifications, well he was a paranoid lunatic, ill cut him some slack on that.

The "Eagles Nest" is not the Berghof. The Eagles Nest is actually the Kehlstein Haus - perched on the ridge of the Kehstein mountain nearby. It was constructed under the supervision or Martin Bormann, and presented to Hitler as a 50th Birthday present from the NSDAP. It was used predominantly for entertaining visiting foreign dignatories, as it has exceptional views over the mountains. You are, however correct, in that Hitler hardkly ever used it, as he was afraid of heights, and also feared that due to it's position on top of a mountain, it would be struck by lightning!

It is, despite it's murky past, a feat of engineering - the road up the mountain is about 6km long, with only one serious bend, and was blasted out of the rock with dynamite.

The Berghof was Hitler's private residence, on Obersalzberg. He originally rented a small house for his initial visits to Obersalzberg in the '20s, and then rented the Haus Wachenfeld in the 30s. Later he bought the house from the owner (a widow), and then transformed it by adding extensions to it, including the addition of the famous picture window looking out onto the Untersberg. Incidentally, "Wachenfeld" was the maiden name of the woman who owned it, which is where the original house got its name.

There is always confusion about the "Eagle's Nest" - the Nazis never referred to the Kehstein House as the Eagle's nest, - the phrase was coined by a visiting Italian, i believe, as it was like just that - an eagle's nest (eyrie), perched on the ridge on a mountain.

It was spared complete demolition after the war, as the local mayor of Bechtesgaden made a speacial plea to the allies to keep it. Even then, it was recognised as a feat of engineering, and a place that undoubtedly had some historical and practical value. It is also believed that the allies never bombed it, as due to it's position, it was too difficult a target to hit!

It is owned by the local municipality, and rented out as a concession, with the income going towards the local area and its development / promotion. It is basically now a restaurant, but still has the original elevator, running all day (manufactured by Otis, for any elevator fanatics out there!).

It's well worth a visit, although when i went there in August, it was so cloudy there was no view at all from the top!!!

I lived 17 years in salzburg (the town at the Austria-side) with the best view to "Untersberg".
I only can say:
"I was never at the top of this mountain.. until 17 years.., so? Why? I dont know, but maybe its really mysterious."

Ive been following this tread since the begging, and i found it really fascinating, but i haven't visited it in a while. What made me come back and write this i that today i finished reading "The Walkers" by Graham Masterton,it is a horror novel with very interesting plot.A bunch of psychopaths living in a mental asylum find a way to escape the institution. One day they disappear never to be seen again.Whats the deal? One of the patients finds book in the library dealing with Druid earth magic and he finds a way to walk into the earth and travel along the ley lines, and he takes all the patients with him.The idea is that the Druids had a way of entering into the earth and traveling in it.That is what i think that the idea of the King in the mountain comes. And also the book has a brief mention of the Pied Piper. The author basically says that the ancient Druids had knowledge of entering the earth itself and traveling with in it along the powerful telluric currents, and the myths about people entering the underworld are actually about people having the power to enter and travel inside earth and use it power.Just my two cents about the legends od Untersberg and the beings supposedly living in it.

This website you refer to got a lot of info. Is was postet earlier in the thread, but for those who missed the radio thing its good to capture it again. I did miss it earlier. That's also a mystery itself... This must be something for a tecnical wizard to solve...

About the nazi escapes : i agree with you on any kind of fascist regimes would be the place to go. Also includes Spain. That combined with the propper contacts and some "gold". Besides that, if you don't want a criminal next door, why not give him a visa to get rid of him...

The Gnomes of the
Saline Mountains
A FANTASTIC NARRATIVE
By
ANNA GOLDMARK GROSS

pg 28

With a tremendous crash, the great mountain
burst apart and a whole troop of tiny, little moun
tain gnomes came out, dancing grotesquely like
sprites of another world.
They were garbed in white vestments, like
fleecy vapors, with brazen girdles which seemed
to be sunbeams, and a cloudy stuff supposed to be
mantles hung loosely around their diminutive

pg29

forms. With bare feet they pattered down upon
him. As soon as they caught sight of him they
commenced to giggle, swarming around him in
great merriment. And then they put their ludi
crous little heads together and pointed at him
with contempt, whispering tales in falsetto tones
to each other, which he could not understand.
But he saw by the glare of their twinkling little
eyes that they meant him, that they touched on
something in his past life.
By and by they became bolder and touched his
wet clothes ; some of the older ones bent down to
him and whispered malicious tales about his wife
into his ears. He groaned aloud. "It is a lie!
I don't believe a word of it!" he screamed, curs
ing the whole deceitful band. In his indignation
he tried to rise several times in order to drive
them away down into the foaming stream, or
back into their mountain riff; but he could not
move; his feet seemed to be fastened to the very
ground as if paralyzed or chained to earth. They
whispered once more the name of his wife with
scornful laughter, and passed on over hills and
valleys dancing merrily.

this has alot of posibilitys this thread does ! definantly interesting!
