The staunchly pro-democrat Los Angeles Times is asking that very question.

LA Times Article

By picking Joe Biden as his running mate, Barack Obama has taken a page out of George Bush's 2000 campaign and picked a grownup who knows a thing or two about the adult world. Of course, the Cheney influence hasn't always worked out too well ...

IMO this is proof that Obama is now running scared. Poll numbers starting to slip, so what does the "candidate of change" do? Why of course he picks an eastern establishment guy with 30 years in Washington.

So, where's the "change"?

Similar in that both have or will have major influence over future policy. As opposed to Al Gore who was simply a figurehead.

The difference is that Biden has not used his position for personal gain unlike Cheney. Biden owns one house with a big mortgage, has less than $150,000 in net worth, rides the train 1.5 hours in each direction to get to work in the senate and has without fault stood for what he thought is best for ALL americans and has proudly always put it all on the table.

Cheney however has used his influence for a ridiculous amount of self enrichment. Think haliburton, no bid contracts, secret energy policy, declaring everything a secret to avoid prosecution and impeachment, and the list goes on and on.

The differences in Cheney and Biden are like night compared to day. You obviously are not seeking truth.

Heck yeah my friend you are right another Cheney, but while Cheney was Mr. Haliburton and we all know what hat brought to the nation, Mr. Bankruptcy bill is a butt kisser to the big MBNA, so we know to whom this VP will be pulling strings for.

I don't like Biden, now I can not wait to see who McCain chose.

Thanks, friend. It seems that many of Billary's supporters are also reacting negatively to Obama's selection of Biden. One can only hope that many of them will either vote for McCain, or like you, take a seat for this election. Either way, the result will be the same - Obama going down in flames ...

The Major has enjoyed the debacle that is Joe Biden. Nothing amuses the Major more than watching Bob Beckel try in vain to put positive spin on the Biden choice, only to acquiesce in disgust to the reality of the situation; Joe Biden is the new Dick Cheney. Poor Bob, had such a pained look on his face the Major couldn't tell if he had a run in with a bad blue plate special at a local greasy spoon, or he had just realized that John McCain will be the next President of the United States. Only Will Bower seems to have a grasp on the proper course of action.

As for those that are compelled to bring up Dick Cheney's hunting mishap, the myopia couldn't more advanced. The Major recognized that 12 gauge peppering for what it really was; an outreach to Democrats at large. After all, didn't "Dead Eye Dick" shoot a Republican?

Now if the Major could only convince John McCain that his best choice for VP is the Junior Senator from the Great State of New York the Major would be able cancel the Major's cable subscription; the Comedy Central channel no longer being necessary.

Dismissed.

Bush didnt choose Cheney, Cheney chose Cheney. He was head of the selection committee for Bush and he nominated himself.
