The world's first known modern human was a tall, thin individual -- probably male -- who lived around 200,000 years ago and resembled present-day Ethiopians, save for one important difference: He retained a few primitive characteristics associated with Neanderthals, according to a series of forthcoming studies conducted by multiple international research teams.

that 'profile' fits very well with the michrondical 'Eve'...

so we are to meld the two, mix in the Biblical account, and conclude that the earlier, scientifically decided 'Eve' ... and this articles Adam...
just gotta be right

the dudes writing this have a interest in making one believe the above logic... it keeps them on the payroll--at least--

If anyone notices the Neanderthal line of 'almost humans' are absolutely not Human...thereby making the Headline bogus

so the headline is actually misleading...
and is designed to spark interest among the answer seeking part of our pop-culture.

hey, good find & post

Good find, Hanslune. That makes modern humans at least 150,000 years older than conventional wisdom. I can hear the Neanderthals saying "Oh sh!t, there goes the neighborhood".

Howdy Kid

Ah modern human have been thought previously to have been around 150,000-200,000 years old since they evolved from earlier hominan of Homo Erectus. This Omo II guy is the first fairly complete skeleton from that time frame. (AFAIK)

There is some debate as to when the Neanderthal and Sapien lines parted but somewhere around 500-350,000 years ago.
