Ask any police officer if they feel more or less comfortable knowing that anyone can get their hands on an assualt weapon.

I am very close with several LEO's and they only feel this way because they are under funded and most don't have one of their own. I believe it was a department in Miami that had its own officers purchasing their own semi-auto rifles. The criminals on the street pretty much outgun the officers.

Do you know why? Because these illegal firearms ARE ILLEGALLY purchased! Banning to this extent only gives the criminals the upper hand.

I must say that its highly unfair to call them Assault Weapons, that's like putting a battering ram on my car and calling it a assault vehicle. All because I have it doesnt mean its for the intention of killing.

I have stated that I do not agree with banning of weapons or just about anything because of the black market it creates. There are better ways to protect the freedom to own a gun while at the same time ensuring that irresponsible indivduals are not able to own them.

If more people in this country were responsible, I think you would see less people willing to sacrifice safety for freedom. When most people are pressed with the issue to ban guns or keep them, they reflect upon their own lives and think about all the people they know that they feel are too irresponsible to own one and fall on the side of safety.

Instead of treating the symptom of gun violence maybe we should find out why people are being violent in the first place. If you were magically able to remove every gun from the United States, gun violence would go down but knife and baseball bat violence would sky rocket. Its not the weapon its the people, find out why they are violent and treat that problem.

Are you suggesting that NOT voting is the best option? I dont want to make any assumptions about you so could you clarify your position.

What a sad, sad example of a little boy you are. How threatened do you feel that you have to arm yourself like a one-man militia? Were you beat up in high school? Would you shoot one of those bullies just out of spite if he stepped on your front lawn asking for help? I would venture to guess that you would. The excuse that "this world is going crazy, and I have to protect myself" doesn't hold for people like you, who help make it crazy in the first place with all of your insecurities and self-conscious misgivings.

If you have nothing better to do in life than shoot assult weapons then you are a redneck. Why would we arm the streets and gangs with them? we spent 10 years getting rid of them and with the swipe of his pen bush puts them back on the street. Typical ignorant texan ( not all of them are ) .

Violence fits a pretty wide spectrum, but you are correct.

A lot of the gun crimes in the US are a result of making an easy buck. Then we have another major lump that falls into suicide (but also counted). Exclude those two and you have yet another huge spectrum to look at.

Thing is, the issues so big people are afraid to deal with it. Look at knife crime in the UK! Its becoming almost as bad as firearms here in the US.

For the most part you are right though.

It falls under the term all liberals hate, "Guns dont kill people, people kill people".

Of course whenever someone quotes that a whole can of worms opens up!

The first step of facism or genocide is to remove all firearms from its citizens. History tends to repeat itself and this has proven itself true more than one time.

This is the very reason I say I will take action if someone comes to my door demanding my weapons.

It is clear to me that freedom and liberty values voters have no one on the ballet for President this go around. We tried but to no avail as there seems to be only a little less than 2 million of us that will actually get out and vote for a liberty and freedom values candidate.

That said I think that these numbers while too small to get a proper candidate elected for President can still do a lot of very loud lobbying against these anti-liberty issues. We must be involved and not just out buying up all the guns we can. We need to stay engaged in this Campaign for Liberty and try and wake more people up to the Unintended Consequences of these anti-freedom measures taken by our government. Education is important so we need to educate people so they understand the stakes involved. Action is required in the form of aggressive lobbying. By aggressive I mean get something on these politicians and do some arm twisting or out them so they are thrown out of office. Freedom isn't free. It takes work to obtain and constant vigilance to maintain.

...Is it REALLY a big deal if there is a ban on Assault Weapons?

You REALLY need an Assault Weapon inside your home?

If you do not understand why you would need one read the history about the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto. With only a hand full of weapons of military grade they held off over 2000 heavily armed Nazi soldiers for weeks until they were ultimately burned out. Had they retained their arms and were well trained with them if might have been a far different outcome. The German gun control laws look a lot like the US gun control laws if you hold them up next to each other and can end with the same situation.

Corporatist and Socialist like to have their citizens disarmed. It makes it a lot easier to get them in those cattle cars to send them to the death camps. Read the book Unintended Consequences I linked in my last post. It has a very through history of these issues as well as some fictional responses.

It is a big deal when you try to turn every weapon that isn't a single shot or bolt action weapon into an assault weapon. According to this proposed ban every weapon in my house is or will be considered an assault weapon.

And if I do feel I need one in my house who be it for you or anyone else to tell me I can't have one and make a ban or law saying I can't have one? I'm not a violent person and have no violent past. I suffer from no mental illness. I am not a felon. No one has or should have the right to tell me I can't have one because they don't like them.

If you want to give yours up that's fine. It's your right to choose to do so. I will not give up mine. ban or no ban.

Who are you people going to shoot with all your weapons?
The US is filled to the brim with weapons and the number of killings is staggering for a "civilized" country.

Banning weapons is the only sane thing to do IMHO. Exept when you hate, fear and despice each other of course. Oh no, then it is even a better idea.

Gun bans worked out great for the 24 teenagers in London that have been the victim of knife attacks just this year alone.

Even if guns are banned people still find a way to kill now don't they.

Who are you to tell us how to run our country?

The US Constitution says that "The right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon". How Euroland, Canada, Australia, etc does things has no bearing on us.

I don't care how many rounds you can fire... when a M1A Abrams comes rolling through your front door; you're way more dead than your compliant neighbor who turned in their guns.

The battle was lost in the 40's. It was taken from us with the invention of heavy artillery.

Watch and learn freedom fighters... Survival is about escape in this situation x... Not standing up to an army as well armed and trained as the U.S. Military. Remember Waco? Remember Ruby Ridge? Remember the Civil War?

All proof that we cannot stand up to the Military as a citizenry.
Coven, Out!

To die retaining what freedoms you have is to gain and express absolute freedom .. to die like an animal in a cage doing as your told, giving way to ultimate submission is the scourge of the Human race, and is a pathetic and lowly way to die.

In other words, I will take being run over by an M1A tank before I give the government my guns.

Your homicide data is faulty in the fact it does not address gun homicides but rather all homicides.

For this purpose it is not usable.
