i think its more likely that israel will attack, and begin the war

its also possible that iran will stage an attack, and claim it is israel who drew first blood (this may be one way the rest of the world will know that iran has successfully produced a ballistic nuke)

we're spread pretty thin, mounting a pre-emptive offensive against iran would be fruitless, the bush admin knows this, i bet...

our remote attacks would be devastating (bombs & missiles) but we have to have infantry to physically seize land and secure it... very dangerous and we would (my impression) not have enough boots to put on the ground.

unless we bring back the draft. not likely, with all the hippy baby boomers who compose the very establishment they previously despised.
