Its getting to be quite obvious that politics has dwindled down to cheering for your side whether he/she is wrong or right.

That is the most disturbing trend of all and the media is too cowardly to say anything negative about American culture otherwise the wolves eat ya alive! We have to ask ourselves as a collective... Do we want the truth or do we all just want to pat eachother on the back?

Our media loves to focus on ex-pasteurs, ex-wives, skin color, age etc instead of challenging Americans to make informed decisions or don't go and vote at all. Oh they can't say that.... cause people will get offended. Oh boo hoo! I get offended by people who can't handle the truth!

PS- sorry if I'm getting off-topic..

I'll agree, I don't think obama would be where he is right now if he were fully white. He'd be so far in the toilet it'd hurt. Seeing as how 90% of blacks are pulling for him at this point. I think losing that large of a portion of the population would hurt pretty bad. Not to mention he would lose those who are voting for him out of a sense of guilt. Not to say that everyone pulling for him is, but you know just as well as I do that there are some.

I don't want to jump on the "uh-um-uh" nuance bandwagon, but I do find that distracting about Obama. His tonality at times seems a bit stronger than McCains though. Overall I was surprised at how (not) well McCain did at answering some tough questions. I only watched through the "flip-flopping question" but I would score it a 5...or, maybe a 4, for McCain.

I think debating face-to-face will present both candidates with an entirely different animal. That will be very interesting to see.

THIS just happened....it is NOT a crappy statement....this man actually said it!!it!!

In Las Cruses, NM....a woman asked McCain...because of the way we are treating our soldiers, now....McCain agreed with everything she had just said.

her comment...."If we don't re-enact the 'draft', I don't think we'll have anyone to Chase bin Laden.....to the gates of hell"

HIS anawer? "I don't disagree with anything you said, and Thank You"

McCain went on to say "Uhh...and I'm greatful for your support of all of our Veterans"....

This guy is a piece of (insert comment here) and it is obvious, to anyone who care to see his 'speeches'

Since this is 'G'-rated....both are Senators. One has served longer than the other. BUT that does NOT mean that one is BETTER than the other....because of Senate Service!!

A person, who serves...(edit here...I made a mistake) and is elected over and over....doesn't mean he's a good person. Just means he KNOWS how to get elected!!

I used to live in Arizona....I know about the 'Keating Five!'.....I know that McCain is dirty, dirty, dirty....form the Keating Scandal.

I lived there, I know this man.....he is a scumbag.

Hope I still kept it G-rated!!!!

EDIT only to correct my typos....tell your kids, spelling COUNTS!!!!

I also misspelled the city name, in New Mexico. Hope you can find it!!

This is one of the reasons that McCain makes me uneasy. I'm not going to die for a pointless war that should have never been started...in case anyone forgot a repube lie started it all.

There's no mandatory 'draft' yet....

It was there, when I was too young.....then it was revoked, just before I came of age.

NOW there is an entire 'generation' that....I think, will say 'HELL NO, I WON't GO!"

Happened four decades ago....will happen again, methinks.

This is just disinformation so you will believe it when they rig the election.

I don't buy it. They pay to get the outcome they want in those polls.

Sometimes more of that same is better than the change on the table. I don't want more of the same, but the change Obama represents is even worse. The rest of the world is welcome to socialism, but I don't want to see it here.

Obama may not be the solution to the problem but in all honesty a McCain presidency wold be nothing short of a nightmare.

And to the gentlemen that said we need a war president because we are in a time of war. that is one of the saddest things i have had the misfortune of reading

I think the socialism aspect is why Obama can lose this election. I have lived in Illinois and remember the senate race. After about five minutes of research terms like "red-blooded commie scum" came to mind. Like many others, I was disgusted by Republican government state-level corruption. However, like many others I was disgusted by the thought of communism. So if I think like that there are probably millions of others who have the same thoughts about him.

It is my belief that Americans have just lost it. (Is Canada really an option?) They tend to forget the past as quickly as the horizon rises and they seen the "next best thing" with a nice slogan. McCain is a 71 year old man with questionable health and a bush track record. (89% of the time he voted for Bush policies.) The Military Commission’s Act anyone?

To put it simply..

1. The War is the economy. It's all the same thing. Stupid. America is broke and we owe everyone.
2. Rice and her hypocritical lies when talking about Russia.
3. Bush's lies about Iraq and its involvement in 9/11.
4. Iraq's billion dollar budget reserve. Our Debt. The sink hole that is the Iraq and Afgan war.
5. Wiretapping to keep you safe?
6. katrina failure? Failed the manage the first large-scale emergency since 9/11. A $850 million dollar failure. Don't worry...we can make more money.
7. No Child Left Behind Act ? A failure? Yes, it is.
8. foreign affairs and Issues? A failure. Everyone hates us. (you don't care do you?)
9. Pushing Iran to Nuclear weapons because of our invasion of Iraq? Come on you know its true.
10. Ignoring the climate issues. (Yea, you don't care about that either.)
11. Trade deficit? $1 billion? (Oh yea, happen when Clinton was in charge. sure.)
12. Record Energy prices (also Clinton's fault) Record energy company profits. Dick Cheney's energy task force meetings remain secret.
13. Human rights? War prisons? Torture? What?
14. Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history. (what? You didn't notice?)
15. Where is Osama Bin Laden?

...and McCain backed this man at least 89% of the time.

Now Obama is the master of double talk and manipulation. Sure. I will agree with that but it is naive to think anything will change at all with McCain in charge following the worst president in history. He's an old hardliner who lives in the past. (His ignorance of the internet is one example of how old and out of touch this man is.) Obama is at least decently young, in touch to a degree and not overwhelmingly rich.

I think this country soundly rejected McCain for president in 2000. They picked Bush instead. In that sense, I don't see how anyone can honestly feel good about McCain.

Technically though I don't think the above quote means McCain will bring back the draft. It means he didn't disagree with the lady. Military recruitment is down, so it flows logically that the US will have trouble accomplishing their goals without taking some other action.

How do they get that number?
I hope it wasn't an internet poll, because those things didn't mean crap when Ron Paul was running.

With that being said, I once heard McCain had a lot to do with getting the cydonia pictures released. Does anyone know if that is true.

while that is 100% correct, what liberals fail to account for is that for us (conservatives) the republican is still the lesser of two evils.

The fiscal conservatives aren't suddly going to say "we'll GWB screwed us over with more spending, so we'll stick it to the republican party by electing someone who will spend even MORE..."

The "security" conscious republicans won't say "we'll GWB hasn't done squat , so we'll just give the job to a guy who's going to have a foreign policy by European census."

It's ok to believe that everyone hates GWB, but quite another to think that we all of a sudden love one of the most liberal guys in policitcs and will vote for him just to get the country in what you feel is "going in the right direction"

You are all glossy eyed...

it will be 48%-52% or 49%-51% like always...(the third parties may decide this one)

2.) My prediction: The saddleback debate we all just watched will be a severe blow to the mccain campaign. His answers were peachy, full of rainbows and sunshine, yes. They played to the crowd. BUT. Most "fence sitters" are some very intelligent people who can pick up on those kinds of things.

Time will tell.

But i just want to say again - isnt it funny how all of the sudden "polls" are suddenly credible sources of information to dictate how a candidate is doing

Isn't it funny that you got a lttle B.O. on your face.....there below your eye and a little on your chin.

Sheeper.....just a civil question, in a civil discussion.

Does McCain impress you in some way that many other people just can't fathom?

I will firstly, preface by saying I was impressed in the run-up to the 2000 Presidential Election.....but McCain got thrown under the bus, then.

OK, fast-forward to now.....the Man served, in Vietnam, unlike certain other 'residents' of the White House and the Naval Observatory, at present.

Question: What about a person's character can not be called into question when the Campaign 'smears' the main opponent, based on the perception of somne sort of 'arrogance' or 'elitism'....when, in fact, as has come to light....Senator John McCain is actually quite wealthy and, ummmm.....somewhat elitist.

I mean, Obama is 'smeared for 'eating Arugula'.....but McCain is served cous-cous.....at his 'barbeque'....on his own 'ranch' in Sedona, AZ?

(source...MSNBC)

I mean, 'quien es mas macho???' (to steal a funny bit from SNL....)

BUT, Senator Obama goes on vacation, to the State of his birth.....and McCain [or his Campaign] steps on his Johnson so many times???

Oh, wait....the McCain Campaign has been on record to say.....that their Candidate does not speak for the Campaign. How funny is that??

Now....I'll admit, the question thrown at him may have been Politically motivated.....about how many homes he and his wife own.....but, don't you think his answer, off the cuff, was incredibly bad?

I would anticipate I'd elect a clear thinker next time, not a guy who gets easily thrown by a simple question about what kind of Real Estate he owns.....which is likely in his current wife's name.....(OOPS!! Maybe Cindy McCain is just a Hillary in disguise....)

I don't know if anyone posted this earlier in the thread, but Zogby which inspired this topic now has Obama polling ahead in every state that matters this election...

farm4.static.flickr.com...

Obama +6 in Ohio, +9 in Michigan, +9 in New Mexico, +1 in Nevada, +9 in Pennsylvania, and +2 in Virginia.

In other words, don't trust polls. Zogby especially.

At least Biden is a decent choice, too bad he is more qualified to be President than Obama is, but that's a whole other thread.

Obama will rue the day he dissed the Clintons. Hell hath no fury like a Clinton scorned. Don't think the Clintons won't hold a grudge for not even being seriously considered for the VP role Let's put it this way, Obama is to the Clintons what old hunting Lawyer friends are to Dick Cheney. Don't expect them to bend over backwards trying to get him elected. I wonder if they will sabotage the Convention with all the mic time they have.

The supreme irony of this all is that if Hilliary runs for the Senate in her native state of Illinois instead of New York, none of this ever happens. Funny how things work.

Nice Ad here, take a look.

Except Biden is hardly an icon of the "change" that O(bs)ama claims he is running on. Come on, 30 years in the senate will represent change? To me it can only represent keeping of the status quo.

I say again, all you obamaphiles just have to be disappointed in the way this is turning out.

Wait a tick, here???

How many years has McCain been in the Senate???

So, blaming Joe Biden for being a long-serving, continually elected Senator is, what?

BUT, a gold-digging guy who happened to cheat on his (not ex-wife, yet) to marray a very rich woman....and who just happens to also be a United States Senator, of nearly the same prestige of Sen. Joseph Biden??

AND this relates, how....again?????

Let me try and explain this nice and slow for you.

McCain isn't basing his campaign on "change".

O(bs)ama is. Typical - loves O(bs)ama, but doesn't know why. Doesn't even know that "change" is they key issue O(bs)ama is campaigning on. Have you not paid attention to even the little bit that your candidate claims to stand for?

So, picking an entrenched washingtonite who's been there for 30 years can hardly represent "change". And O(bs)ama did say he wanted to pick someone that could help him govern ...

All that boils down to no change - business as usual - if O(bs)ama wins.

Understand?

And the marriage stuff in your post relates to this thread how again?
