Hi! I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but I had a question dealing with presidency.

Let's say we have a President. That President becomes very ill that his Vice President has to take over. Now if that President were to pass away and the VP becomes President in his stead, is it possible for that VP to stay VP and yet choose someone else that he feels is more qualified to be President? And can he choose someone from a different party?

I hope that made sense. Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

Nope.

The minute the president dies or becomes seriously enough ill, the vp automatically becomes president. He can then resign from the spot, but he still would have been president until he resigns. His vp then becomes the president, or if he hasn't chosen one yet, the speaker of the house.
