You can read thousands of books on ufology but you will come out empty-handed and ultimately would end up at the starting point, with nothing to show for your prolific readings.
That's how I feel......after more than 45 years of reading, researching, interviewing hundreds and hundreds of alleged witnesses, visiting numerous locations all over. Like they say: "I've been there....done that.."
The topic of "UFOs", to me personally, is unresolvable......it's like studying and reading about "God". It is endless.....and, some people say it is a waste of time. I tend to agree. We really don't know what "reality" is.

However, if I were to select one book on UFOs, it would be a book entitled THE EDGE OF REALITY (written by Allen Hyneck and Jacques Vallee) which was published in the early 90s.

Hi Norio

I agree whole-heartedly with this and personally feel that I, myself cant help but be drawn to ufology after my own (and also with my husband) experiences. Its very frustrating!!

Thankyou for your reccomendation

I really enjoyed "Dark Mission" by Richard Hoagland. May not be totally a "UFO" book but still a great read.

Good read for sure. Carl had a real neat sense of things and provoked much thought from both those that agree and those that disagree with his positions. Again, good suggestion.

"Need to Know" by Timothy Good
" The Disclosure Project" by Steven Greer
"The Flying Saucers are Real" by Donald Keyhoe

Those are your good standbys for UFO reading (Book Wise)

Hi

I would certainly recommend "Passport to Magonia" by Jacques Vallee

and

"In a league with a UFO" by Lou Baldin for some more imaginative reading.

I can recommend more, but this two are o.k. to start.

A Couple of old ones but decent non-the-less:

"Who Goes There?" by Edward Edelson, 1979 (I've just re-noticed that my copy has been marked with graffiti by someone I borrowed it to a long time ago.); and,

"The UFO Experience - A Scientific Inquiry" by J. Allen Hynek, 1972. Dr Hynek was the astronomical consultant to the U.S Air Force 's Project Blue Book (I expect that would be a good choice too).

If your husband is like me then he might appreciate a couple of old books along with a new book. Only an old book has that extra musty smell that adds to the enjoyment of reading.

Good look searching..

P.S How about trying to get him a joyride on a UFO?

Hi Beauty, Carl Sagan is a known ultra skeptic debunker (science is the only truth, everyone who sees UFO's is a lunatic etc... I'm going to get into trouble for saying that
and probably isn't the kind of read your husband is looking for...

In recommending one essential UFO read it has to be 'Disclosure' by Steven Greer, it is a seriously mind blowing book, and disturbingly credible too, here's the blurb from Amazon:

" Book Description
For the first time ever, over five dozen top-secret military, government, intelligence and corporate witnesses to secret projects tell their true stories which disclose the greatest covert program in world history. This explosive testimony by actual government insiders proves that UFOs are real, that some are of extraterrestrial origin and that super-secret programs have energy and propulsion technologies that will enable humanity to begin a new civilization - a civilization without pollution, without poverty - a civilization capable of traveling among the stars. This is not just a story about UFOs, ETs and secret projects: It is the story of how 50 years of human evolution have been deferred and how these secret projects contain the real solution to the world energy crisis, the environmental crisis and world poverty.

About the Author
Dr. Greer is the founder and director of the Disclosure Project and the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence. He is an emergency physician and member of AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha), the nation's most prestigious medical honor society.

On May 9, 2001, He spearheaded The Disclosure Project press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC at which more that 20 military, government, corporate and intelligence witnesses came forward to urge open and honest congressional hearings in to the subject of UFOs and exotic energy and propulsion technologies. 250,000 were waiting on line for the webcast - the largest number ever for a webcast from the National Press Club.

Dr. Greer has met with and provided briefings for senior members of government, military and intelligence operations in the United States and around the world, including senior CIA officials, Joint Chiefs of Staff, senior members of congress and congressional committees, senior United Nations leadership and diplomats, senior military officials in the United Kingdom and Europe among others.

Dr. Greer has been seen and heard by millions world-wide on shows such as The Larry King show, BBC, NTV in Japan, The Voice of America and many others. He has addressed tens of thousands of people live at conferences and lectures around the world.

He is married. He and his wife have 4 daughters and live in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. "

It's a must read in this field, trust me
