The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Hey all. I sat last night in a chair by the side of the bed. I couldn't sleep. I was reading my favorite novel, and listening to the sound of my child lightly snoring. The word angelic can barely describe how beautiful and innocent he looked.
Gosh.
What will he be when he grows up?
Will he be the man I've tried so hard to steer him in the direction of?
Will he practice the morals I've tried so hard to instill?
Will he go to College?
Will he find a woman who understands what the word relationship reallly means?
Will he always know that I love him?
Will he know how proud I am of EVERYTHING he's accomplished?
Will he know I will always smile upon him, no matter what?

Havin' a bit of a rough patch in my life right now. Not the first time. I put on my Ipod and hit shuffle. The second coincidence in a weeks time. What a perfect song came on. I've live my whole life this way, but now it's a little more important.
Check out these lyrics by Tim McGraw:

He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
hows it hit you when you get that kinda news
man whatd you do

and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness Id been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasnt
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasnt such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what Id do if I could do it all again

and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness Id been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
whatd you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it?

Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named fumanchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, she learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame, she learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, she learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, she learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, she learns to like herself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.

relax

you have good morals and have shown that alot
so
your kid will surely grow up in the same path

if your going to reflect
do so on the good things your seeing and how those will prosper as times go on

The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power....
to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour.
Live, love, and toil with a will...
Place no faith in tomorrow.
For the hands may then be still.

"What About Now"

Shadows fill an empty heart
As love is fading,
From all the things that we are
But are not saying.
Can we see beyond the scars
And make it to the dawn?

Change the colors of the sky.
And open up to
The ways you made me feel alive,
The ways I loved you.
For all the things that never died,
To make it through the night,
Love will find you.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

The sun is breaking in your eyes
To start a new day.
This broken heart can still survive
With a touch of your grace.
Shadows fade into the light.
I am by your side,
Where love will find you.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love, it never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

Now that we're here,
Now that we've come this far,
Just hold on.
There is nothing to fear,
For I am right beside you.
For all my life,
I am yours.

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?

What about now?
What about today?
What if you're making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it's lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
Baby, before it's too late,
What about now?

Lombozo,

While I may not have any children of my own I have talked with many a parent. These are some of my observations.

Your kid will never cease to amaze you. There will be times when you want to tear your hair out concerning him. You've worked with "Lil Dude" for a long time. Take heart in the fact that he loves you. There may come a time when it'll seem that he doesn't but deep in his heart he will always love you. What will come, will come. What you can do (and you are doing this) is to prepare him for life as best as you can. You have been teaching him not just about the world but what is the proper way to act. You're doing a great job and should always continue to do so. Not just for your sake but his.

Bod, AD, Deson. Thank you. You have no idea how much your words mean. I am blessed I have gotten to see him to his 6th year. 9 years ago I thought I had 6 months. I've tried to make the best of every moment. Gonna do my best to make it to number 7. Heck, gonna do my best to see Santa again. Freakin' alarm clocks.........

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
Whe he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

*We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.

In my area there is a place called the Cowtown Rodeo. Yep. Cowtown. The Cowtown Rodeo is the oldest in the nation. I've never tried to ride a buckin' Bronc and stuff, but I'm gonna do it. Gonna be a blast I'm sure!
