The viewers say with the stars and blue field in the lower left corner, it looks like an upside down American flag. Published flag etiquette states the stars should always be displayed in the upper left corner. An upside down flag represents an international symbol of extreme distress.

"...it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama's shirt with the flag blowing in the wind." -Obama Campaign

I suppose this is just ANOTHER misunderstanding? Either way, its hilarious. Especially when combined with all his other gaffes concerning the flag and country.

I'm amazed anything thinks this is an issue

I'm sorry but one of those is (seemingly) an impromptu gesture, and the other is a piece of media. Which one had ten levels of checks and balances? Which one had zero? I am not one to get up in arms over flag rhetoric (nor am I American), but there is a big logical difference the two examples given.

Then again, if you equate one man mistakenly holding a flag backwards with a whole team of men deciding to display one upside down (presumably to make a statement) thats your stance.

Furthermore, I also don't see how a picture of anyone else doing anything with a flag accomplishes anything other than deflection away from the topic at hand.

Good for them. I wear an American flag upside down as a patch on my jacket.

Maybe if more people realized that the US no longer stands for freedom they would do the same.

It's just a piece of cloth anyways.

You are exactly the kind of guy Obama appeals to and one has to wonder why? Why is it that Obama seems to be surrounded by Anti-American people and also seems to attract the same kind of voter?

HAHA

You actually think I like Obama?

I dislike any politician. He is just as corrupt as any one else.

It's a flag people get over it. That is exactly what they want is to keep us divided. As long as we have borders than there will never be peace.

We are all people. Flags just keep us divided.

So long as people are shallow enough to even give this petty matters any thought, there is little hope for America.

This doesn't matter to the DNC one bit. One of the first laws they're going to pass once they take over super majority of Congress and the White House is to change the U.S. flag to a red hammer, sickle, and star on a bright yellow background; and also change the country name to U.S.S.A., the United Surrender Socialists of America.

Ah but Conservatives are in charge... this must mean that America is in distress...

Well... for the 49% that are Liberal perhaps.. oh wait... no one protesting in the streets.. suppose it's for the 5% extreme socialist that consider no "free" health care or gay marriages to be "oppression".

The upside down flag imo shows the intelligence of this nincompoop.

To you perhaps, but to me it represents the unselfish sacrifice of all those who have fought for and/or and died for our country. While I respect your right to feel otherwise I do not agree with it in the least.

I see Bush holding the flag and I read the caption that the flag is upside down. However the flag is not upside down.

If your looking at the picture the flag is on the opposite side. But if your looking at it from Bush viewpoint the flag is the correct way.

Guess it's one of those is the glass half-empty or half-full thing.

Freedom is in the eye of the beholder and i feel that the US still stands for freedom. No other country comes close. Yes, it is not perfect freedom but it is more than any other country has to offer.

I also fought for that freedom and that piece of cloth you so speak of.
That same cloth that will lay proudly on my coffin the day I die.

I and others like myself also fought for your right to wear that piece of cloth upside down. Enjoy it because many of my fellow service members paid the ultimate price so that you may flaunt that piece of cloth anyway you choose. Their freedom is gone but i am glad to hear that you are enjoying yours.

God bless America, those who serve, served, and most of all those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom we have today.

That piece of cloth means a lot to me.

So let me get this straight.

First he's not American enough because he doesnt wear a lapel pin (ha!)

and now he's too American?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt an upside down flag a sign of distress ??

our country IS in distress because of a REPUBLICAN president.

Here's my advice:

1.) Take off the "Jerome Corsi Fanclub" tee shirt.

2.) Get some new material. You bash Obama on the STUPIDEST things. If you're so concerned with the flag, then why arent you concerned with our current president's infractions against the OFFICIAL flag code when he was caught illegally writing on the United States Flag ?

If you fought for that right, then why do you have a problem when someone exercises the right you fought for? And if you're against the right, why did you fight for it?

So many people say things like this. "I fought for your right to say that"!!! Well, then what's the problem?

On topic, this is stupid. Bush and McCain both have "desecrated" the ACTUAL flag by writing on it, but the Democrats make a pretty picture for the convention and everyone's up in arms!

Someone call Uncle Sam "Anti-American"!

Oh, yeah, I meant to say that, too. If our country's not in distress, I don't know what is.

Am I the only one on earth that was a Boy Scout when I was young? I find it an outrage that they can just disregard the law. Yes the LAW. Has anyone else here ever looked at the U.S. Code Title 4.

Actually, I pointed out that I thought this was a funny gaffe in the OP and didn't take it too seriously. In fact, the only reason I posted this was in response to your ridiculous crusade to convince everyone McCain cheated in the last debate.
