Billy Conolly, Chris Rock, Robin Williams.

Conolly is probably the best stand up comic as so many others use his material.

I'm glad people started to remember the British...

- Rowan Atkinson (Black Adder)
- Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge)
- The Little Britain crew
- Monty Python
- John Cleese (Faulty Towers, he went downhill after that)
- Ricky Gervais (aah the office...remember his dance people, er err err dadadada err err err)
- Kris Marshell (not stand up, but Nick in My Family, comedy genius!!)

Okay, I can't believe that only one person mentioned David Cross. Okay, I can actually because this only prooves the sad truth that not enough people know who he is. Man that guy is funny!

Som just in case it wasn't clear... my vote is for David Cross.

The only person who has made me laugh out loud recently is Eddie Izzard. I saw some of his stand-up on video which led me to check out some of his movies. That guy is quite mad.

I'm guessing you mean stand-up comics so I'd probably go with:

Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Richard Pryor.

I know !!!!

His facial expressions slay me. For some reason funny faces do it to me every time. If a comedian can make a really good one, I'll be on the floor rolling around holding my sides, laughing pretty much

Me too KayEm! If a comedian can pull a good face, he's got my vote. Next time you come to England watch some old episodes of 'My Family', with Robert Lyndsey and Zoe Wanamaker as the parents, along with three kids, Nick (Kris Marshell) is in his mid-twenties and as daft as a brush; he's so sweet, he has a Mr.Bean-ish charm about him...I think you'll like him alot.

Ohh...actually it might be on BBC World or whatever you guys get from us over there. I dunno, but the guy always makes me and my Mum cry

Mike Myers
Rowan Atkinson
Jim Carrey
Jerry Sienfeld
Michael Richards

...and from the all time classics:

Charlie Chaplin
Laurel and Hardy
Benny Hill

I always was a great admirer of the works of MePatriot......

Seriously, Billy Connolly, the world's funniest man. Dennis Leary can tell a joke or two also.....

I'm glad to see David Cross mentioned cuz I think he's probably one of the funniest people I've seen. For me it's delivery as much as timing.

Bill Hicks, hands down the best I've ever heard. I gave some tapes of his to a friend who was driving to Montana from Virginia along with some Sam Kinnison and he listened to them almost non-stop.

Chris Rock has gotten very good since he got bolder and more honest/blunt.

Carlos Mencia
Bernie Mac
Dennis Leary
Dennis Miller
Jon Stewart
Marc Maron
Drake Sather

Mitch Hedberg... I had never heard of him and saw him for the first time on that Comedy Central "Presents", I think. I had a hard time getting into his delivery, but once I got the rhythm, he was killin me!

My favorite living comedian by far, Doug Stanhope.

If Bill Hicks was "Noam Chomsky with dick jokes," then Doug Stanhope would be Alex Jones with dead baby jokes.
