that was insane, but why don't the reporters mark their vehicles better?
I am amazed at the drivers bullet dodging skills.

The thread title is misleading, the Turkish journalists said they don't know who fired on them for certain, but reported they were approaching a border post in the combat zone believed manned by Ossetian irregulars, not Russian troops.

They drove away and then encountered some Russian troops, who took them to a hospital inside Russia, treated their injuries, detained them for a few hours, and then released them once it was clear who they were.

I am beginning to wonder how much of the more bizarre conduct in this war is due to the number of irregular volunteers showing up on all sides, and the resulting lack of discipline.

It's not misleading...

The uniforms worn by the soldiers are Russian.

Thats rather obvious.

Yeah, but I didn't get the impression from watching the video that the guys who were shooting at them are the same guys they encounter later in the video, and from the statements made by the journalists, neither did they.

They run into the ambush, get shot up, throw it into reverse and get the hell out of there, then down the road they run into a group of Russian soldiers, yell "press" in English, and get taken by the Russians to the hospital.
