The world is NOT overpopulated!

I see so many threads about our world being over populated, how we are running out of resources, war would be a good thing, etc.

Well I beg to differ. I do not believe our world is over populated. I believe it is over commercialized. We had/have plenty of resoursces to go around but big business doesn't want us to have these resources.

Let me put it to you this way. We are tearing down our resources in order to build malls. I live in an affluent suburb of Kansas City. There are no less than three, yes, three Starbuck within WALKING distnace of my home. There are four 20 plex movies theaters within a ten mile radius. There are over 30 strip malls within a 15 mile radius, there are two major malls within a ten mile radius of my home. Not to mention the 5 Walmarts, Targets, Price Choppers, etc.

This is just sick to me! We are tearing down our natural resources in order to make it easier for someone to buy a five dollar item made in China at Walmart! Why can't we drive a little further to see the latest movie and admire beautiful landscape on the way? Why must we have a convenience store on every corner instead of a park or garden?

Remember when slavery was abolished and the blacks received 40 acres and a mule? Well, I dare say we are slaves to commercialism/consumerism. We now need to go back to those days where we all get at least 10 acres and a mule, start to garden again and really just get back to the basics.

We are not over populated, we are over commercialized and if we don't stop soon it Will take a war or pandemic to get us out of this mess.

I think what they mean by being overpopulated is that the "Elite" are having a hard time getting around because of all us peasants on the roads.

We are overpopulated because we are destroying everything.... taking natural hibitats and rights from other living creatures that are a necessity to this planet... treating each other like crap because we do not value one another any longer... not enough jobs to go around... living stacked on top one another, etc.

There are definately too many humans on this planet and we are ruining it.

But your post also speaks the truth in many ways... ways that will not change though.

Nearly everyone who studies the subject agrees that the earth has either passed, or is at, critical mass.

It has less to do with sheer numbers and more to do with rate of consumption, which, in this industrial age, is at an all time high.

This planet cannot handle another couple generations of irresponsible consumption and procreation by the human species.

The masses are greedy and lazy, that is why it is overpopulated. The ratio of predator to pray is not balanced so therefore, the illuminati must balance it out. I know u all love to blame the illuminati for all of the problems of the world.. but the fact is they are focused, hard working, smart, and respect nature.

it is the masses who refuse to face reality and want to be slaves..the illuminati give u a choice and the masses would rather be slaves.
because of the greed, nature is out of balance and the illuminati are there to reduce the population back to normal.

The earth can only sustain about 500,000,000 (five hundred million) humans before the natural resources are used up faster than they replenish.

Thank you all for your replies. Thus far this is the only thread I have posted that actaully gets replies. That being said, I don't think you are understanding were I am coming from. Yes the world in a sense is over populated, but my point is, that if we stop being obsessed with consumerism, maybe there would still be resources available to sustain life here on this planet.

I guess I am just fed up with 50 Walmarts and 1,000 starbucks in one freaking city and no more trees, gardens, or parks. That's my point. We need to get our heads out of our collective butts and get back to nature!
