Cuba itself has already made it fairly clear that there's no question of a renewed Russian military colonialism. The country is still sore at the fact that the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 brought an end to the liberal flow of funds from Moscow.

I guess they don't want to see another cold war either.

Good news in my opinion.

thats good news!

Now if we could just get our embargo lifted on cuba and get them to open up to the idea of maybe putting a few resorts on the island, a better airport, a deal to buy tons of sugar and other tropical fruits from them, and legalize gambling there.

Then we would have a cheap version of a hawaii/ vegas type of establishment, plus it would be much easier and cheaper to fly there since it is so close to america. think about it. it would bring toms of money to the US and to Cuba, plus the workforce could get away for a three day weekend on the cheap.

Plus we could greatly expand out navy down there although I'm not sure as to why we would want to.

wouldn't it be better to close Guantanamo Bay camp first?

helllllll noooo!!!!!!

The base stays where it is. thats all part of the package. cuba want's to make some real money than it's time for them to join the western world and embrace, sugar plantations, pineapple plantations, club meds, sandals resorts and casinos in havana.

trust me the cubans will feel much safer with a US military presence in their towns garrisons and all. it
ll be great. they just got to get over this national pride thing and get in where they fit in. as a tourist trap for americans!
